Mark 4:37, 38 ‘and a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But he was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke him and said “Teacher, do you not care we are perishing?”

Greetings to all readers in the matchless name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I want to share with you today that ‘HE CARES FOR YOU’. I know that God cares for us in general, but he has a personal relationship and a personal concern for each and every one of us.

Mark 4:35 onwards it says, ‘On the same day, when evening had come, he said to them “Let us cross over to the other side”’. You must understand ‘which is that same day’. It was the same day when Jesus revealed the mystery of the kingdom of God to his disciples. He spoke to multitudes in parables, but when the disciples were alone he explained to them, all things about the parables. Notice what Jesus said to his disciples “Let us cross over to the other side”. He said ‘Let us’. He did not send his disciples alone. He sent them with a great promise and assurance of his presence. He not only promised that they would cross over to the other side, but also gave an assurance that they were not alone. ‘ I AM’ is with you.
In the gospel of Saint Mathew, Mary was told to call his name “Jesus”. In Hebrew, it’s ‘Yeshua’. But in gospel of Saint Luke, its being asked to call his name ‘Emmanuel’ because he is ‘ God with us.’ So Christ Jesus is not only our redeemer, but he is ‘God with us’. He will not only redeems his people, but he will be with his people…So if you think you are alone in the journey of life …you are mistaken, because God is with you…Amen

I guess that the disciples were fully charged up after receiving the revelation of the great mystery. They were full of confidence and hope in their lives, but suddenly there arose a great windstorm. The waves started to roar against the boat. Everything was going good but suddenly a great storm hit your finances. Everything was going great but suddenly and unexpectedly, waves started hitting your family life, job and your children’s life. I am not talking about the storm that hit Sumatra or the waves that hit the shores of Sri lanka. I am talking about the storm of problems and situations hitting your home, where everything was going fine and good till yesterday. But suddenly today, you hear a news which makes you worry and gives you the feeling of uncertainty.
Like Job, everything was going calm in his life. But a sudden storm hit his life.
I have heard people saying that they were doing good at the business when suddenly from somewhere, the storm hit their expectations. No one can see from where the wind comes. You realize it when it hits your life. I am sure that disciples never expected this sudden storm in their life. And I do know that there are some folks who are reading this Rhema, who are going through such sudden storm in their life….You expected something but you are facing something which is against your hope. You thought that family life would be a blessing to you, but it is in the verge of a divorce ( a sudden storm). You thought that your job would be sufficient to provide for your family. But recession has hit your company and no one can do anything. When they were in the midst of the sea, sudden situations arose against their expectations….These disciples were singing and praising in the boat of expectation and were glad that they were nearing their destiny but a sudden storm hit their boat of expectation. Now they could not see their destiny and started crying out with fear of perishing. Are you going through such kind of problems? When you could see your promise, you began your life journey with great expectations, but now you feel that you are perishing in the middle of this storm. Theologians believe that this storm which hit the boat of disciples was a ‘whirlwind’. A whirlwind is a spinning vortex, which spins you around in the same position. It will not allow you to move ahead or restore. Is there anyone who is in the midst of this kind of spinning? You are toiling day and night but still you are in the midst of a whirlwind kind of circumstance.

Disciples tried everything to calm this situation. Today morning I got a call from one sister who said that till the previous day, everything was fine, well and good, but all of a sudden, a great storm hit their family. And she was trying her best to calm the situation but failed. What do you when all of a sudden waves of such situations hit your family life, job, spiritual life or your faith? Do you try to solve it all by yourself ? Let us see what the disciples did here . V 38 …’And they woke him up…Jesus was asleep on a pillow in the stern.’ You must understand one thing that we are not looking at God, the Father, the Creator of this world. Instead, we are looking at Jesus, the God in the human flesh. Let us see the spiritual side of this….

‘Jesus was in the stern’…What is a stern? It is the rear or the aft part of a ship or the back of Ship. What was Jesus doing in the stern? He was asleep on a pillow. These two things are very important to understand why the disciples had a feeling of perishing, even though Jesus was with them.
First, Jesus was in the stern. In other words, he was not in the front.Second most important thing was, ‘he was asleep’. Most folks get a feeling of perishing in the midst of their problems, because Jesus is not in the front of their life. He is sleeping in their life.
Dear beloved, are you facing the problem by your own abilities and experience?
Is Jesus sleeping in your life? When does Jesus sleep in your life?
If you don’t have a personal relation with him, or a prayerful life, if you don’t meditate on the word of god and if you do not walk according to the word, you will make Jesus sleep in your life….

Dear folks, wake him up (start a relation with him, by praying, meditating on the word & obeying him) and allow him to lead in front of the windy situations, because he cares for you. Math 7:11, ‘ If you being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him.’
Math 6:31-32, ‘ therefore do not worry saying what shall we eat? Or what shall we drink? Or what shall we wear? For after all these things the gentiles seek for your heavenly father knows that you need all these things.’

‘Disciples woke up Jesus and said “Teacher, do you not care we are perishing?” but Jesus did not answer this question. But he said to the windstorm and the waves
“PEACE AND BE STILL “.’ Why didn’t Jesus reply that question on perishing ? It’s because, there is a volume of scriptures in the Holy Bible regarding how much he cares for us.
Psa 103:13, ‘ like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. The father pities his children that are weak in knowledge, and teaches them; pities them when they are forward, and bears with them; pities them when they are sick, and comforts them; pities them when they are fallen, and helps them to rise; pities them when they have offended, and, upon their submission, forgives them; pities them when wronged, and rights them: thus the Lord pities those that fear him.’
Someone said it was Peter who asked Jesus “Do you not care we are perishing?” but when Peter experienced the love and care of Christ Jesus in the windy situation, he writes in his epistles
“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of god that he may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon him, for he cares for you.”

Jesus stood for them and rebuked the wind and waves and there was a great calm.
Remember, in the beginning, there was a great storm but when Jesus stood and said ‘PEACE’, there was a great calm…After a great storm, there was a great calm….
This windstorm hit the boat because of two reasons 1) to make disciples understand how much he cares for them 2) the devil try to block their destiny but the promise of god prevailed

In Mark 5:1 says ,’then they came to the other side of the sea…’ If Jesus has told you “ Let us cross over to the other side”, no matter how strong the wind may be, it is just a design to bring hurdle to your destiny. “ The one with us is mightier than the one in the world”.

Jesus cares for you….go through the word once more and if Jesus is sleeping in the stern of your life, wake him up and let him lead your life because “HE CARES FOR YOU”.

May god bless you!

Luke 11:8, ‘I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.’

Greetings to all precious people of god in the matchless name of our lord Jesus Christ.

After all attempts to save a patient fail, a well experienced practicing doctor will say to pray. After all attempts to save a plane from crash fail, a qualified pilot will say to pray. The world will say ‘to pray’ only at the end, when all other efforts fail. But it was only Jesus who said and taught us to pray ‘first.’ Practically speaking, most of the folks pray when they are in trouble or when they smell trouble, but this is wrong! Christ did not teach us this way. Prayer is not a onetime process. It must continue till we are with Christ. I Thessalonians 5:17 says “keep on praying” There is a saying “The more men pray, the less worldly they become, and the less men pray, the more worldly they become- David Ravenhill.” The most arrogant person in the world is the one who do not pray. Yes! You heard me right. You do not pray because of pride. Praying is talking to god and seeking his help. Praying is relationship with God and praising god. Praying is worshiping god and knowing the will of god. Praying is asking god, and the person who do not do these things thinks that he can stand by himself. Prayer is like the fuel in a car without which, the car cannot move even an inch. If your life is stuck in between, check if there is fuel (prayer) in your system. Some people pray only when they are in trouble. God being merciful delivers them from all their troubles but after the turmoil is over, they are back to normal (i.e. prayer less life). Now they will remember to pray only when they get into a new trouble. Prayer is very important. Let us sleep less and pray more.

Now today I want to share about the power of persistent prayer. Christ, while teaching his disciples about prayer, he mainly gleans the importance of persistent prayer. He showed the manner of prayer and its importance. Our joy, prayers, and thankfulness to God should not fluctuate with our circumstances, needs, or feelings. Obeying these three commands — rejoice, persevere, and give thanks — often goes against our nature. But if we practice consciously the decision to be obedient, we will gain a new outlook.
The word persistent means “Remaining in the same state for an indefinitely long time or refusing to give up”. Lord wants us to remain in prayer; God wants you to be soaked in prayer, in his presence. I love the word ‘soaked.’ Before putting the clothes into the washing machine, my mom soaks the clothes in the solution of washing powder. I asked her why she wasted the time in doing this. She said that when you soak the clothes, it is easier to wash them; the dirt is removed by concentration of the chemical in the powder. Oh my God! If a local washing powder can remove the stains of dirt on the clothes, when submerged in its solution, then how much more will the stains on us be removed when we sit and remain in the presence of God for an indefinitely long time? When was the last time when you were soaked in the presence of god with prayer? Another meaning of the word ‘Soak’ is ‘to absorb.’ When I remain in prayer, I not only absorb the peace of god, but I also give up my fear of uncertainty. Really, if you understand the power of the persistent prayer, your life and perception will change. I remember the times when I kneel down for prayer. There are times when I never hear the voice of god or see his guidance. Sometimes I do not get words and sometimes I think that I have lost my faith. But through all those thin ways, God was teaching me to remain in prayer. Do you give up when you don’t get words to pray? Do you lose heart when you see your prayers are unanswered? If yes!! Change your mindset today. We quit because we have set our own times , forgetting the fact that god does not move with our time. But he does things in his time.
This is very simple but most of us do not know this basic. In other words, before you kneel down for prayer, you must be willing for the will of god. Impatience is short-term. God answers prayer in His timing, in His way, for His purpose. Although we may not understand, perseverance may bring unexpected blessings. Let us wait on the lord. Let us see in points the outcome of waiting or persistence.
Isaiah 40:31 says, ‘but those who wait on the Lord..’

    • They shall Renew – their strength
    • They shall Mount up- with wings like eagles
    • They shall Run- and not be weary
    • They shall Walk- and not faint.

One brother was tired of praying and asked me “How long should I wait”. I replied “Wait till the will of god happens”. Jesus waited for thirty three and half years for the will of the father to happen. He did not force anyone to crucify him to do the will of the father. He waited till the time appointed by the Father and I heard him saying in John 17: 4, “I have glorified you on the earth. I have finished the work which you have given me to do.” (Read the prayer of Jesus in John 17). He set a good example for us. Let us follow him and let us remain and soaked in his presence with prayers.

Let us see what Jesus taught us about persistence.

.Persistent in prayer for ourselves:

In Luke 18:1-8, we can see one helpless widow and a cruel judge who did not fear God and regard man. She approached this unjust judge by having a good knowledge about his character, that he regarded no man. But she did not give up and took her petition to him. This man refused it and did not act on her petition for a while. If we were in her place, we would have quit going to him next time because we know his character. But this widow troubled him with continual visits. I believe she used to visit him daily and weary him daily until she got justice from her adversary. She was a determined woman. Even though he had heard this widow’s petition and saw she had a case, he would not do as she asked. He simply turned a deaf ear to her pleas for help. He was hard hearted and close minded to the needs of others.

C. V. 4b-5 He Was Condescending – In spite of his spiritual condition and in spite of the fact that he did not care for this widow in the least, in the end, he helped her! Why? The answer lies in verse 5. There are two words there that are of special interest.

1.) Troubleth – This word comes from two words that mean, “to reach forth to beat another or to cause another trouble.”

2.) Weary – This word means “to beat down, to blacken the eye”. It is a word used to describe the effects of being beaten severely about the head. Evidently this means that her continually coming before him and her constant crying was hurting this man’s reputation. She was giving him a “black eye” in the community!
She knew that the wicked judge can only give her the answer. At last! This judge said to himself “Yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her”. If this wicked Judge avenged her request, how much more will our Heavenly father who is a merciful god,he hear our prayers, he honors our persistence, he handles our petition. I have underlined the word ‘trouble’ because the petition of the widow troubled the Judge. But our petition does not trouble God. Your constant prayer does not weary god. Persistence in prayer does not mean you are troubling god. In fact we learn patience which leads to a perfect work. If your need is more, your persistence in prayer will be more and vice versa. She was persistent for herself and her request. But Jesus taught us that we should not only be persistent for ourselves. Rather we must be persistent in prayer for others also. Is it possible for you to be persistent in prayer for others? We are so selfish sometimes that we go to any extent to receive our blessings, our family needs, and our requirements. Prayer must not be self centered.
We must be persistent in prayer for others also.

Persistent in prayer for others :

Let us see through the scriptures. In Luke 11:5-10, we see a man who went up to one of his friends seeking help for another friend who had come to his house. This man was not seeking help for himself but he was seeking help for his friend. In the later text, we see that though his friend refused to open the door, he did not go from there. He kept knocking and remained where he was. At last, because of the persistence, his friend rose up and gave him all his needs. Why was he persistent even though his friend had refused him to open the door? What made him to remain persistent? If you notice, his friend did not refuse him the bread. He only refused to open the door. He knew that his friend had the bread inside the house and a little persistence would make him to get up from his bed and give him what he needed. The answer is already inside, but if you remain constant, you will receive it. This man was interceding or was persistent for his friend. How much persistent are we for other people? Do you hold patience while you pray for your friends?

‘Jacob was left alone and a man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. Now when he saw that he did not prevail against him, he touched the socket of his hip…God touched the strongest part of Jacob in other words he (Jacob) was weak but he did not give up he did not let the angel of god go and said “I will not let you go unless you bless me”’. And we know the result that Jacob was blessed there. He wrestled for his blessing the whole night and did not give up. His persistent prayer changed his name & character and lead to a nation called Israel.

Persistence is not repeating words. Some people think that when they repeat words for sometime, god will hear them. Persistence is determination of your heart.Be committed to prayer. Be consistent and persistent in prayer. Do not give up !! Keep on praying ! The answer is on the way !

God Bless You

Acts of apostles 12:1Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.Psalms 118:16 The Right hand of the Lord is exalted; the right hand of the lord doeth valiantly.

Greetings to all precious children of god in the matchless name of our lord Jesus Christ.

I once again give all glory and honor to my author Holy Ghost, who chose a worthless servant like me to glean the hidden truth of his unchanging word. It was afternoon of 12th June, when god gave me a great burden to pray. I don’t remember how much time I spent with my heavenly father but I could feel his gracious hands over me in each and every word uttered. He emptied me inside and filled me with his grace.

I would like to touch some important notes of the keyword which say ‘now about that time’, which made me think ‘which is that time?’ Jesus commanded his disciples not to depart from Jerusalem, but should wait for the promise of the Father. Later he said,“ you shall receive power, after that the holy ghost is come upon you and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Without receiving the power of Holy Spirit, you should not go anywhere and you cannot go anywhere. But when you are filled with the power of Holy Spirit, you should bear witness wherever he sends you…
And as Jesus promised, they were filled with the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost and during those days, many people accepted Jesus Christ and were baptized. Those who were saved were added to the church. Peter stood up and preached the word. God did many miracles through his servants. The lame started walking, dead started raising and many more people were added to church. They all were in one accord with one heart in Jerusalem, but sooner or later, church was under persecution. But this hardship was for the fulfillment of the promise. Even though the disciples received power, they still found it safe ministering in Jerusalem. They did not go to neighboring cities of Samaria and Judea.
In Acts of apostles, till chapter 7, we see that church was limited within Jerusalem. But after persecution and martyr of Stephen, they were scattered to the neighboring cities.
And those who were scattered preached the word and there was peace in Samaria and Judea. So the persecutions scattered the church to the uttermost part of the earth. If that test wouldn’t have come, they would have still ministered in Jerusalem alone.

God will give you his promise, but if you do not go according to his will, he knows how to bring you back in track. The power of Holy Spirit was manifested through the apostles and many people outside Jerusalem started to believe in Jesus Christ as the lord.
The gospel of god was now widespread like fire among the gentiles (house of Cornelius). They too received the gift of Holy Ghost. Even though one Stephen was martyred, God raised and stuck down Saul of tarsus to bear the witness among the gentiles. He had letters from high priests to bind the children of god near Damascus. But God struck him with his glory on the way, and he fell down and later, this Saul turned to Paul, who wrote 14 letters to encourage the body of Christ. The hand of the lord is exalted and does valiantly. He had one letter to persecute the church initially but when he was struck with the glory of god, he wrote 14 letters encouraging the church. What a change!! When Stephen was killed , Satan thought it to be the end of church. When the church was scattered, he thought that it’s all over. Satan was too foolish to understand the fact that the church is not build up on any earthly foundation or on any man or on any’ isms’ or religion. Instead, it is built on the rock, Christ Jesus. How much ever the devil attacks, he will not prevail, because the builder and the foundation of the church is Jesus Christ, the sovereign god. Now about this time, when the gospel of god was wide spread among the gentiles, as promised, ….there arose Herod the King, who stretched forth his hand to vex certain people of the church. He did not try to vex all people of the church but certain people. We have many people coming to church, but all of them might not have relation with God. Devil will not try to touch the ‘so called believers’ who comprise with him. But he tries to touch the ones standing for the lord. And god gave me one thought few days back “Devil will try to block you but I will continue on you”. The devil will try to bring hurdle by not allowing you to reach your destiny, but god will continue to pour out more grace continually to enable you to attain what he has promised you. He who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it. The right hand of the lord is exalted.
Remember! Herod was not a normal man. He was a king and had all authority and power to persecute anyone, anywhere at anytime. No one could cross question him. This powerful king stretched forth his hands towards poor people who were defenseless. Powerful king versus weaker vessels. Herod was not afraid even to kill somebody, and he proved that by killing James, the brother of John. When Herod found that this act pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. But the approach of the church touched me and my Heavenly Father removed the scales from my eyes and opened the treasure of revelation.

The church did not send any plea notification or an appeal, nor did they kneel before King Herod. Instead, they decided to kneel before the king of kings, Christ Jesus. The church knew another hand which was mightier than the hands of King Herod. Do not fear by seeing all those hands which are against you. But know one thing today, that the right hand of the lord does valiantly and is exalted for those who humble under his mighty hands. 1 Peter 5:6, ‘ Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hands of god, that he may exalt you in due time.’ The church humbled themselves under the mighty hand of god. Peter was surely taken to be killed with the sword, just like James. But the church was constantly praying for Peter. An interesting thing to notice is that the church did not pray for King Herod. They prayed for Peter. Had we been in their place, we would have definitely prayed for a change of heart of King Herod, or for him to be struck down flat. Why did the church pray for Peter and not for the King?
We don’t know what exactly they prayed, but I believe that they were praying for the strengthening of Peter. They were praying that heaven would pour more grace and peace on Peter, who was being planned to be killed. And we can see the result of this prayer in v 7. ‘And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains; and the keepers before the door kept the prison.’ How can you sleep when you are going to be killed by the sword next morning? Peter was sleeping. In other words he was in great rest, even though the next day was against him. The constant prayer of the church enabled Peter to have peace in his heart during the turmoil. This was the need of that time,’ peace in the heart of Peter.’ Church would have wasted the time, if they would have prayed for a change in King Herod. When we get stuck in a problem, we pray to god to solve that problem rather than for the grace to face that problem.

One sister called me and said that her office condition was not good and urged me to pray so that god would change her office condition. But I refused to pray for a change in the office condition. I told her that I can pray for more grace on her to face the situations. Dear reader, you may not get good situations around you, but the grace of the god is sufficient to hold you.

So don’t pray for a change around you but pray for a change within you.

Why did they not pray for Herod ? It was because the battle was of the lord. They didn’t have the need to fight this battle, because god had sent his angel before his people to fight for them. The Iron Gate and the chains were opened automatically. The right hand of the lord was exalted for his people. If god has planned to deliver you from what you are going through right now, iron bars is not an hindrance, chains will not block his mighty work, and hell cannot prevail against the mighty hand of God. All these will bow before him.
We all know the end of King Herod. He was arrayed in royal apparel and was on his throne at his peak time of rule, where people praised his oration. He sought his own glory more than the glory of god. He wanted to be praised by men. But he did not praise god. So the angel of the lord smote him and he was eaten of worms and he gave up his spirit. All men give up the spirit first and then are eaten up by the worms. But this king was eaten up by the worms first. Where was his power and authority ? He couldn’t even stop the worms ? How would he stop the church ? ….and V.24 says, ‘but the word of God grew and multiplied.’
The mighty King Herod was eaten up by the worms, but the word which he was trying to stop grew and multiplied….The Right Hand of the Lord is exalted and does valiantly.

Conclusion :
The church was inferior in front of superior King Herod, but not by might, nor by power but by the power of Holy Spirit, they were victorious. Who helped the church to fight against the hand of mighty king ? It was nothing but the Right hand of god which did valiantly.

God bless you!!

Luke 7:19 And John, calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to Jesus, “Are you the coming one, or do we look for another?”

Greetings in the most precious name of the Lord Jesus Christ !

I thank God for this wonderful and unchanging word which was sown in my heart to write about ‘dealing with doubts’. I want to humble under his mighty hand and glean some truths from the word.

The meaning of the word ‘doubt’ is ‘ lack of certainty that often leads to irresolution or lack of trust’. Here, you must understand one thing that it was John, the Baptist who doubted and sent his disciples to ask Jesus “Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?”
John was so much mentally depressed in the prison that he started doubting the messiah.
But Jesus said about John in Mat 11:11, “Verily I say unto you, among them that are born of women, there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist.” What a great testimony about John ! He was greater than Abraham, Joseph, Isaac, Moses and all those great men of god but he doubted Christ. If this man who said “He must increase, but I must decrease” had a doubt, what will be our condition? If John the Baptist had a doubt, everyone will have a doubt, but how can we deal with doubts? But first, let us see who John the Baptist was.

Meaning of John “God is gracious” .

A spirit filled man : He was filled with the Holy Ghost when he was in his mother’s womb,
A Separated Life : His entire life was committed to serve and prepare the way for the lord. Most of his life was in the wilderness, which shows his separation from the cares of this world. He wore raiment of camel’s hair, and a leather girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey. His main aim of life was not food, clothing and shelter, but to prepare the way of the lord. This shows his dedication to the ministry of god.
Man of Vision : He saw the Heavens open and a dove descending upon Jesus Christ. He heard the voice saying “ this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased”
He knew the truth: He recognized Messiah and he knew that Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God. He knew the purpose why Jesus was sent by God into the world.
He preached the word: He was not a preacher who followed prosperity theology. He used it like a double edge sword, preaching about Repentance, Being Born Again, Salvation and about End times. He spoke boldly to great teachers and High priests of those times (Pharisee and Sadducees). He even did not hesitate to call them ‘Brood of Vipers.’ He rebuked even King Herod for all the evil which he had done.

He was a witness: What is the meaning of ‘witness’ ? A witness “ is the one who have seen and who has the proof”. John had seen and heard the truth, not from any man. He had heeded the voice from the heaven. He was a man sent by god (John 1:6). He bore witness of that Light who was rejected by the people of that time. This man came to witness the Light, and he accomplished the work for which god had sent him. He bore witness and prepared the way for the Lord (Mark 1:14-15). John said “There comes one after me who is mightier than I, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to stoop down and loose”.

A Prophet: John 1:33, “ I did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me “ Upon whom you see the spirit descending , and remaining on him, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit”. It was revealed to John that Christ Jesus will fill his people with his Spirit.

A Voice: He was the voice in the wilderness. The earth was like wilderness and the spiritual condition of the men was barren and deserted, dry and worthless. But God prepared a voice before sending his only begotten son, who spread the good news about the eternal life. Before sending his son to the Earth, God needed a Voice to prepare a way, which He manifested through a human being like us…For that reason he chose John to be his voice from the mother’s womb.

There are many more things to learn about John. Indeed he was greater than any born of women, but after all this, he doubted Christ. This shows that if you are a human being, you will doubt . The word of God is more powerful than anything to remove that doubt- The word of God will deal with your doubts; you need not deal with it.

Possibly there were two reasons as to why he doubted Jesus.
First, He had only heard about the miracles done by Jesus. He did not see them. So, the doubt arose in his heart (Mathew 11:2-3)
Second, He was in prison for several months and there was no way to escape. So he lost trust in Christ Jesus there.

You may be telling that you have been serving God since many years, but still nothing is happening. You may be hearing his voice but still, you might not be trusting that he will save you. One sister told me that she gave up praying for her husband, because she prayed and fasted for him for many years, and there was no change in him till now…

Let us see how Jesus deals with the doubt of John, the Baptist.

Jesus was not at all surprised by John’s reaction. He asked the disciples to tell John about what they saw. He did not reply with soft convincing words. He just asked them to tell John about the things which they heard and saw. Mat 11:5, ‘the blind see and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.’ What does this declare ? Jesus wanted to tell John that God was accomplishing all that John had witnessed while preparing the way for Jesus.

If you notice the reply of Jesus, it was a Prophetic word of Isaiah about Jesus which given many years back. “Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert” (Is. 35:5-6).
In other words, Jesus was reminding John about the word of God. So how can you deal with doubts? The answer is ‘get back to the word.’ The reason why Jesus didn’t try to make John feel better with a few kind words and an emotional touch, was not because He didn’t care. He cared for John so much that He gave John His best — the written Word of God. That’s how Jesus himself dealt with, when tempted (Matt. 4), and that was and still is the God’s best way for us to deal with doubts.
There is no other remedy to overcome doubt, than getting back to the word of god.
Doubt means ‘losing of faith on God’. So, to overcome this, you need to walk according to the word of God because bible says “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God”

Second personality is Thomas the Twin.
We all know him as a ‘Man of doubt’ but there is a different face of this Thomas whom most of us have not noticed. If you read John 11:7-16, Lazarus was dead and it had been 4 days since. On the fourth day, Jesus called his disciples to go towards Judea but his disciples restrained him, because the Jews over there sought to stone Jesus. Even though his disciples restrained Jesus to go to Judea, Thomas was not afraid to die. He said (John Ch 11:16) ‘Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.” He did not even fear to die for Jesus. This shows his deep and perfect love towards the master because bible says in
1 John 1:18 ‘there is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear, because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.’ I have no doubt in believing the fact that Thomas not only just loved Jesus, but he was perfect in love. This man who was ready to die for Jesus, was perfect in love towards his master. In John ch 20:25, this same Thomas said “….except I shall see in his hands the print of nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe”.
How did Thomas overcome his doubts about the resurrection of Jesus?

We don’t know the exact reason as to why Thomas was not present when Jesus visited the first time after resurrection. But if you study the whole text, you will know that he
refrained himself because of doubt. When he heard his fellow disciples saying about seeing the Lord, he came to the place to see what he had heard. If you read you will understand that Jesus showed his hands and side to other disciples. But for Thomas, Jesus asked him to reach out his fingers towards the nailed hands and side, not by unbelief, but by believing. Jesus had mentioned about his death and about his resurrection beforehand to his disciples, but still Thomas doubted and lost his trust on Jesus. So Jesus approached Thomas and asked him ‘to believe’ – ‘to believe in the word about my death and resurrection which I had spoken to you.’ We don’t know whether Thomas touched Jesus or not. Anyhow, when Jesus spoke the things of his heart, his eyes were opened. He overcame doubt by believing the word of god and by proclaiming what he had seen. Many of us see our future with spiritual eyes but we don’t just proclaim it with their mouth, which leads us to doubt. Martha believed that her brother would rise in the day of resurrection but she failed to believe that Jesus could raise her brother even after 4 days stench. This was purely doubt. Jesus replied to her, “ believe to see the glory of god.” I have come across many folks who believe that Jesus is Faithful and that he is an awesome god . But when it comes to the point of troubles and hardships, they fail to proclaim their faith from their heart .They speak about faith outwardly but inwardly they are full of doubts.

There are only two times recorded in the Bible when Jesus ‘marveled ‘. Once He ‘marveled’ at the people’s great unbelief (Mark 6:6), and in Matthew 8:10 He ‘marveled’ at a Gentile soldier’s great faith. A faith that made Jesus marvel is worth examining. What was different about it? The number one difference was what the centurion said, “But speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.” (Matt. 8:8-9)The centurion had a faith that was in God’s Word alone. He didn’t have to have Jesus come to his house and wave His hand over the sick servant. He believed that if Jesus would just give him a word, the servant would be healed.
Conclusion: Maybe there’s a reason that Lord hasn’t used an emotional touch to deliver you from unbelief. Maybe it’s because He loves you so much that He’s trying to help you operate in the highest form of faith — faith that takes Him at His Word. If the least of the saints today are greater than John the Baptist, (Matt. 11:11), surely the Lord wants us to operate at least at the same level in which He dealt with John’s unbelief.

May God bless you !!

Entering God’s Rest.

Heb 3:11 ‘So I sware in my wrath, they shall not enter into my rest.’

Greetings in the precious name of our lord Jesus Christ.

The recent incident of the flight crash in Mangalore has hit the warning bulb of my heart that we will see the son of man coming in clouds very soon. Earthquake in Sumatra , Volcanic Eruption in Iceland, introduction of national Id’s & chips in various countries etc. – World is progressing in technology from atomic power to nuclear power. Robots like My spoon have been introduced who can do all things ( just need few batteries). Nations and their leaders are after power and position. In the eyes of people, science and technology is progressing but the bible says “the end is near” and “the kingdom of god is at hand”. World is like a sinking ship. Actually it is not progressing. It is sinking- this is true.
This is a brief of the present world but what about the church and the so called believers or followers of church ? Are we progressing or are we sinking? The word became flesh and was born in the womb of Mary through Holy Spirit. The world did not recognize Him, except few people like Simeon, Anna, Mary, Joseph, the wise men, the shepherds and few more who were waiting for the messiah and who were not ashamed to accept him( like Mary). God is not going to take crowds. He going to take away only those who are eagerly waiting for him. Like in his first coming, only few knew him. Likewise, in his second coming also, only a few people will be taken and will enter into his rest(this is sad part but it is the truth). We have lot of examples to prove this. The crowd started the journey from Egypt to the land of rest, but only two entered the promised land. This incident of the Old Testament (OT) Israel is the foreshadow of the New Testament (NT) Israel. We know that the world is sinking day by day, but what about the followers of Christ?
Saint Luke 18:8 says “…nevertheless when the son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? Paul in his second epistle of Timothy draws a clear picture of this age in (Read) 2 Timothy 3:2-7. Not only wars and earthquake declare the coming of Christ but even the downfall of followers of Christ is a serious indication of his coming. Woe to that person who is carried away from the truth to different gospel and doctrines.
Now-a-days, we miss the sermon on repentance, salvation and second coming of Christ. We have preachers who preach 7 steps of blessings and 3 steps to resist the devil but the real old classic sermon gospel about the blood of Jesus is somehow missing. They have a form of godliness but they deny the power. They themselves are falling into the pit and in the process, taking large crowds into the pit. Now people need short and crispy sermons. One of the brothers recently said that he has no time to read the “The Living Rhema” and when I asked the reason, he said that it is lengthy and so, he has no time to read it. These same people have time to read any interesting news on the net or on papers, no matter how much lengthy it might be. We don’t have time to read the word of god, but sometimes are satisfied by reading some verses here and there.

What is God’s rest and why is it important for us to enter this rest? Where are we if we do not enter this rest? As I mentioned earlier, OT is a foreshadow of NT. Let us see why the OT Israel could not to enter the promised land. If we understand this, it will be easy for us to see where we are. Our forefathers set an example for us. Let us not make the same mistake. While we drive, we see some warning signs like “drive slowly, accident prone area etc.”. These sign boards are put on the basis of some accidents which happened before. Likewise, people of OT is like a sign board, warning us day by day. Knowingly, let us not commit the same mistake.

God created the world and everything on it in six days. On the seventh day, he rested not because he was tired but because he had finished his work. You must understand one thing today – that god has already planned and finished his work on you and me. God doesn’t change his plan according to our situations. He is aware of what we are going through and it was already planned ahead. He has inscribed us in his palms even before the foundation of the world.

Earlier Israel had Sabbath and they rested on seventh day, because god wanted them to be with him. They rested on that particular day like god rested on the seventh day. Remember Sabbath was made for men, not men for Sabbath. Now, instead of resting with god, they went astray from God in their heart. Keeping aside all their loads and resting with god was meant for Sabbath, but later on it became a tradition and men started living for Sabbath forgetting the fact that Sabbath was made for him. Sabbath was strong, but men were weak. So Sabbath could not give them the rest. So Jesus in his ministry called people unto him and said “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”. Jesus is not talking about any practical load here. He is talking about the load laid in their hearts. “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am meek and lowly in heart and ye shall find rest unto your souls”. They rested physically on Sabbath, but their souls were laden heavily with sin.

So a person who comes to Jesus finds rest in his soul in this world but this is not eternal.
Eternal rest is when we are taken away from this world to another world with Christ.
You must understand the truth today that we have a rest in Christ when we are in the world but this rest will become eternal only when we are with him in the heavenly place. Psalms 23:2-3 ‘ He maketh me to lie down in green pastures, he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul.’ We were under the bondage of sin and were carrying the yoke of Satan on our shoulders. But all who are saved will say with me that, they have peace and rest in their souls ever since they knew Christ Jesus. One example- In a family of 4 members, 3 of them lost their jobs. Now, they have to survive with only 1 person salary. They have to pay room rents, bills etc. When they called me , I thought that they would sound low, but that was not the case. In fact, they were praising God. They had no fear and doubts in their minds. What would have happened if the same occurred with any worldly family?
People around you are committing suicides for silly reasons but a believer who is going through more pain has rest and peace in his soul….It is because the yoke of Christ Jesus is on our shoulders. So we have rest and peace when we are in this world, but what about the eternal rest?
How we will reach eternal rest? Is there any short-cuts? Let me make clear to you.
Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life” . So you have no other way to enter his rest . The only way to rest is Christ Jesus. There are short cuts to become fat, thin, and to achieve your ambitions but there is no shortcut to enter his rest. John 14:1 -3 ‘ let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in god, believe also in me. In my father‘s house are many mansions; If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you’ . Jesus went to prepare a place for our rest and again he says “ And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there ye may be also”.
God wants his children to be in his rest, just like he wanted to free Israel from their 400 years of bondage. He wanted to plant them in a place of rest from their enemies, a place where milk and honey flowed. But what made god sware in his wrath that they wouldl not enter into His rest? Let us see why the Israelites failed to enter the promised land and let us learn from their mistakes, lest any of us fall short from his rest.

Hebrews 3:7-11 ‘wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, to day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness, when your fathers tempted me, proved me , and saw my works 40 years. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do always err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.’
This verse is very important to understand as to why the Israelites failed to enter Cannan.

It says ‘Today’, which means god has not pulled down the shutters of ‘entering his rest’ for us. It is still up. It is not yet closed and the doors of the ark is still open, like in the days of Noah. This shows his mercy towards us. The Israelites failed to enter worldly Cannan, but God wants his children to enter the Heavenly Cannan- into his rest

Let us see the reasons from this same verse of Heb 3 which I have underlined.

Why did Israelites fail to enter his rest?

There were three reasons :
1) Disobediece, 2) Rebellion and 3) Unbelief .

Read Hebrews 3:7-11

1)‘They did not hear his voice’. In other words, they were disobedient.

They did not give ear to his statues. So next question arises – then to whom did they give their ears? They gave their ears to themselves and foreign gods. They did not want the directions of living god. They walked their own ways and took instructions of foreign gods, which resulted in their fall in the wilderness. Because of disobedience, Saul was rejected, Jonah was in the fish guts &…Israelites failed to enter the promise land. What does this show ? You may be an anointed prophet or an anointed believer who has a promise, but if you do not obey his voice—you are nothing and have gained nothing…Did that redemption from Egypt help those Israelites who were disobedient ?
No, not all. You may have a good past experience with god, but if you do not obey his voice now, you can be rejected. Saul was anointed but remember, he dug his own pit by disobeying. Some people think that half obeying is acceptable to god…But let me tell you “half obeying is disobeying” . We all know what happened to Adam and Eve, who disobeyed god. In fact they were put out of the garden. God will not spare you and me if we continue to disobey him and do not heed his voice. Isaac heeded the voice of God and dwelt in Gerar and what was the result ? He sowed and reaped 100 folds that year. Who was Isaac ? He was the son of Abraham, who obeyed the voice of god (read Genesis 26:5); An Obedient father will have an obedient son !

2)‘Their hearts were hardened as in the provocation.’ In other words, they were rebellious.

There are several Hebrew and Greek words which are translated into English as rebellion, rebellious, and rebel. The first Hebrew word is “marad”, meaning “the refusal of the inferior to carry out his responsibilities to the superior (whether to royal power or to God Himself) and thus is an attempt to void the relationship.
The second Hebrew word is “marah” signifying “an opposition to someone motivated by pride; to disobey.”
The third Hebrew word is “sarar”, meaning “to be stubborn”.
The fourth Hebrew word is “pasa”, meaning “to transgress or revolt” indicating a violation of an established relationship by a subordinate.

The first Greek word is “apostrepho”, meaning “to turn away”.
The second Greek word is “anupotaktos”, meaning “not subject to rule”. And the third Greek word is “antilogia”, meaning “dispute, contradiction, or hostility”.

Rebellion entered into the world through Adam. He first rebelled against a commandment of God and ate of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge, and man-kind has been rebelling ever since. As Eve was tempted to sin by the lure of having a great knowledge to be like God, every human on earth has or will be tempted to want to be his or her own god.
Let me ask you one question. If you have any problem with your brethren, can you worship? Or do you sing praises to god? If you do this act, against whom are you rebelling ? Are you rebelling against your brethren or God? Ask yourself.

Read Psalms 78:27, ‘ Even though god rained meat on them like dust’. V.17 , ‘but they sinned even more against him, by rebelling against the most high in the wilderness.’
(Please take time to read Psalms 78.) God did marvelous things before their eyes. Yet, they rebelled against him and provoked him. V.40 and 41,’ how often they provoked him in the wilderness and grieved him in the desert.’ Remember!! It’s only 3 days journey from Egypt to Cannan, but god changed their route. They spent 40 years in the wilderness. It was not the fault of god. Rather, it was their heart which made god to take this action. Some of you folks may think why god is taking so much time to fulfill his promise, and some even blame god for this. But it is not god who is wrong. It is we and our heart. Ask yourself, “where have you fallen ?” Repent and do not rebel against the almighty.

3)‘They tested me ,tried me, and saw my works.’ In other words, they did not believe (Unbelief)

They tasted god and then tested god– This is very powerful to understand. They tasted and saw his miraculous hand not only in Egypt, but in their every way. He led them with the cloud during daytime and by light of fire during night.…He did not remove his provision by seeing their sinful heart.
Dear Beloved, remember why god has not removed his provision from you. He did not see your good works or anything you boast about. But he is a gracious and merciful god..
Israelites saw the wonders of God’s hand. He divided the sea and caused them to pass through and he made the waters stand up like a heap. Dear Brothers and sisters, remember the work of god that he has done in your past… He made a way in the midst of the hindering waters of your life. He heard your cry when you faced the red sea. Now when he has brought you out to the other shore, safe and secure ,you forgot him and started serving idols.
Now you may tell me that “bro, we are not serving any idols but verily I say to you…anything you love more than God is an idol in your life.”
money, ambition, career, pride, children, wife, husband, job, car, mobiles, internet etc you name it.If you are serving and loving these more than God, you are an Idol worshipper. And you have forgotten God and are testing Him who brought you this far. Remember!! Unbelief is a virus which will kill your soul slowly…Eve was deceived by the devil and so, she did not believe God’s word. Rather, she believed the words of Devil. If your name is ‘believer’, then live like a ‘believer.’

God had a beautiful plan to take Israel to the promised land, but they perished in the wilderness. God did not redeem them to perish anyway. But because we now know why they perished, let this be an example. God has a beautiful plan for you and me. Let us be obedient and let us subject ourselves to his hands. Let us keep and believe his word and work. Dear Reader, God saw these three things in the Israelites and sware in his wrath that they would not enter into his rest. Let god not say the same to you and me by seeing our present condition in Christ.

Remember our resting place is not Graveyard but it is with God !

In the next Rhema if my author allows, I would like to glean
“ How we can enter into his rest”.

All glory and honor to God.

May god bless you with this message
