Who is a prophet of God?

Glory to God alone

Recently, a sister called me and said that a prophet came to her church and started prophesying to her that she was carrying and that the baby would be used by God. He said many other things which I cannot mention here. The fact is that this sister is unmarried and the person prophesying was a false prophet, who prophesied by outer appearances. When this sister cross checked with the pastor of the church and few elders, they all said that the prophesy was for the future and supported that wolf. I am sad to see that even the elect do not have a discernment to identify the wolves. Jesus did not give us the time and date of His second coming, but one of the signs of His coming is that many false prophets will arise and will deceive many. How shall we indentify these false ones? Remember! Duplicate notes will always come with the original ones, but the one who is trained in handling the notes identifies the original and duplicate correctly. Amen! If you are trained by the WORD, you will easily indentify these wolves. They will be discerned by their fruits. Let my prayer be our prayer, ‘God, give us your grace of discernment to test every spirit. ‘

Every prophet who tells about your past, present and future is not a prophet, and this is where we fall. We give these crooks a chance to creep inside our houses. First of all, we need to understand and correct ourselves. Then only we can identify these false ones. As I have seen in our ministry, many treat prophets as fortune tellers and if you don’t change this idea, then either you will be deceived one day or you have already been deceived. Prophet is not a fortune teller and he is not a parrot that is inside the cage and picks some cards of its choice and tells your future. Yes! The prophet from God will tell the future things, but he does not pick any card by his own. He will tell what the Lord says. When Jeremiah was called, God showed him an almond tree, and asked him as to what he saw. Jeremiah said exactly what he saw. He did not add anything extra about that vision. A prophet from God will not add anything to what God shows, but will tell exactly what he has seen. God did not ordain prophets to tell about your daughter’s marriage, and your new business dealings. Unless and until we recognize the role of the prophet, there is every chance of getting deceived. I remember one self proclaimed prophet, who came to my dad and said that my dad will receive one bumper lottery. My dad stopped him then and there, and explained to him as to who a prophet is and what his role is. What if this false prophet has prophesied to any unbeliever or any babes in Christ? They will merely believe him and accept him. Even the elect can fall if he is greedy for money. So children of God, please recognize the function of a prophet. He is not ordained to tell only the prosperity part of a person’s life but He is also ordained to build the body of Christ spiritually. The main aim of a prophet is to build the body of Christ. But people like us are more interested in building our own reputations, ambitions, desires etc. And seeing this, the false prophets creep in and tell what exactly you were waiting for. Many of us doesn’t know the role of a prophet and so they take him as a fortune teller. Have you ever went to a prophet eagerly to know about your spiritual life? There are very few people who ask about this. Most of us are concerned of the beggarly things of this world like college admission, date of marriage, a color of car, visa to Canada etc

Whether you like me or hate me, this is the truth. Before identifying the false prophets, we need to break some mindset and identify the role of a prophet.

Who is the prophet of God? : – A prophet is a man who has been called of God to speak for Him and be His messenger. A prophet receives the Lord’s word for mankind, including revelations, prophecies, and commandments. “A prophet, then, is the authorized representative of the Lord.” The world may not recognize him. An important requirement is that God speaks through him. A prophet is a teacher. He receives revelations from the Lord. These may be new truths or explanations of truths already received. Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants, the prophets” (Amos 3:7). The job that a prophet does for God is the same job that God assigned Aaron to do for Moses. So the Lord said to Moses in Ex. 7:1: “See, I have made you as God to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet.” 2 Peter 1:21, ‘ For prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.’ The Greek form of moved is Phero, which means ‘to carry’ or ‘to bear ‘, signifying that they were “borne along,” or impelled, by the Holy Spirit’s power, not acting according to their own wills, or simply expressing their own thoughts, but expressing the mind of God in words provided and ministered by Him. Why do we need Prophets? -: As a result of the fall of Adam and Eve, man was separated from the presence of God. We need to know and keep His commandments to be worthy to live with God after this life on earth. Throughout every age, past and present, God has chosen righteous men to be His prophets and spokesmen. God speaks through these men who are commanded to reveal to mankind His will.

The Role of the prophet of God: – 1 Corinthians 3:6, ‘for we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building (NIV) and to build God’s building, He has ordained some’ and one of them is prophet. Ephesians 4:11-13, ‘It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ’. So from the above verses, it is clear that a prophet is called to train Christ’s followers in skilled servant work, to work within Christ’s body, the church, which means, edifying the body of Christ, until we’re all moving rhythmically and easily with each other, efficient and graceful in response to God’s Son, as fully mature adults, fully developed – within and without, fully alive like Christ. Any prophet who is trying to build only the worldly things in you, is not from God. Yes! Our God wants us to be blessed financially and in every aspect of life, but He also wants us to grow in maturity in Christ. We have people who are fully matured in worldly way but not spiritually. High alert! You can be easily deceived in the trap of the false prophets. Scan every prophesy and every prophet through the scanner – The Word of God.
If the prophesy and the prophet is not meeting the laid foundation of the WORD…ignore him because he is not from God. If you have a grip in the Word, no one will deceive you.

What does the prophet of God speak? : – He speaks the truth because he hears from God who is the Truth. Now many of us think that if the prophet says something, it must happen and if it is not done, then he is not a prophet of God. But that is not true. Deuteronomy 18:18-20, ‘when people approached Moses and asked about the true prophets, he said that if the prophet says anything, it must happen and if it is not happening, he is not a true one.’ So, since that day, people have a mindset that if the prophet says anything, it must occur. But Moses had said only one side of the prophesy. The other side is in Jeremiah 18:7-9, ‘ If God tells you anything and if you do not do accordingly, that prophesy will not fulfill in your life.’ E.g. People of Nineveh. God was about to destroy the city but the people repented, God refrained from destroying. Fulfillment of the prophesy is done when we move according to the Lord’s word.

Beware of False Prophets:Every prophesy must contain 3 three things. A prophesy without these three things is not a prophesy and the person prophesying is not a prophet.

I Corinthians 14:3-4, ‘But one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and comfort. …… he who prophesies edifies the church.” Prophesy must contain 1) Edification 2) Exhortation and 3) Comfort
Now a days, we only hear comfort by some of the prophets and these are liars. We must get edification for our spiritual man through the prophesy. Exhortations (Encouragement) to the inner man through the prophesy is essential and comfort to the outer man is also needed which includes our job, children, financials etc. Dear brother/ sister, was your inner man edified when you heard the prophesy last time? Did you receive Exhortation from the Word through prophesy. But all you got was comfort! Am I right? You can easily recognize the false prophets now. A false prophet will never edify or exhort your inner man through the word, but he will just give you some false hopes and comfort you for the moment, but what will you do at the end? Beware of false prophets. God has given the following guidelines to protect us from false prophets…If someone purports to speak as a prophet from God, the church should assemble to judge the validity of that prophet’s words… ‘Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.’ 1 Cor 14.29. ‘Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.’ 1 John 4.1 A false prophet can be recognized by the fact that he or she yields bad fruit — distrust, discord, confusion, wrangling, gossip, useless disputes, and divisions within the church. (Jesus said…) “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.” Mt 7:15-17A prophet’s words are false if they are inconsistent with, or contradict God’s Bible. (This is the ACID TEST. God does not contradict His Bible.) Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They make you worthless; they speak a vision of their own heart, not from the mouth of the Lord.” (Jer 23:16).

Let us look unto Jesus and have a firm grip in His word and abide in His love.

Jeremiah 18:3, ‘Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel.’

I am writing this to you with prayer and thanks to my Lord. His grace is more than enough for me amen. Jeremiah was sent to the potter’s house so that God would speak to him practically. God has called me as Jeremiah, and many times, He teaches me just as he taught Jeremiah, by taking me to some places and showing some things or people. Unless and until we see those things, we cannot figure it out what exactly God is trying to speak to us. Jeremiah could not make it out as to what the potter was making on the wheel but the potter knew beforehand and was shaping that clay accordingly. In the eyes of people, this clay is shapeless, and has no value but the one who has kept this clay on his wheel has a blueprint for the same. People will cripple you, criticize you and even mock you without knowing the will of God towards you. But when you are completely made, they will be amazed! Next time when anyone throws mockery comments on you, just tell them “ I am on the wheel of God’s will, and He has the blueprint.”

We are the children of God and we are in the wheel of His will. So we have no authority to move according to our own will, because if we are out of His wheel we are out of His plan. We are made perfect and complete on His wheel. He doesn’t make any vessel to get marred, but he wants His will to be done in each and every vessel. In the Holy Scriptures we can see God taking many people from the world and putting them on the wheel of His will. Some of vessels were blessed, but some got marred on the wheel itself. The Lord doesn’t cast away the marred ones completely but instead, he takes them up and again puts them on the wheel and gives them another shape.

Moses was born to redeem Israelites from the bondage, but God did not let his or his parent’s will to happen. If we notice carefully, everything that occurred in the life of Moses was against his parents will. Yes in the eyes of his parents, it was against their will, but for God, Moses was on the wheel of His will. When he was put into the small ark and sent into Nile River, his sister and parents thought it’s all over, but they were wrong. If you are in the wheel of God’s will, you may find everything going wrong on your way, but you don’t need to worry! You need to wait because you are flowing towards Pharaoh’s Palace…and this is the will of God! Amen! You may think you are flowing towards death, but wait a minute – you are on the wheel of God; He knows where you are flowing.

Again if we see the life of Moses, he spent 40 years in the wilderness tending the sheep….Oh people might have said that ‘this man was called to redeem Israel but he is tending sheep in the wilderness!’ Hello people! He is not in the wilderness but he is on the wheel of God and after some time, he is going to leave this sheep and see the fire in the bush. Why was Moses sent to tend sheep in the wilderness ? It’s because that he was to walk in the wilderness in the coming days. Was he not on the wheel of the will of God?

Peter toiled the whole night and caught nothing. Hello Peter, don’t worry for you are on the wheel of His will. Fishes will not come because the one who made the fishes wants to come into your life….Jesus wants to touch Peter in such a way that he will fall at the feet of Jesus and say “Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord” . When Peter was completely molded, Jesus replied, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will catch men.” This was the will of God, but later on, as we all know that this same Peter was marred on the wheel of His will by denying and going back for fishing. But the merciful God did not cast him away, but approached him and made him into another vessel and when this vessel stood up in the day of Pentecost and preached the word, 3000 people were saved. Yes the will of God was completed when Peter surrendered himself on the wheel of His will.

Are you a marred vessel today, messed up in every walk of life ? Then surrender yourself to the wheel of God’s will today, because He only has the real blueprint of your life. No one can change your marred condition other than Jesus. There is no place where you can go other than the wheel of His will.

Testimony: I don’t need to worry as long as I am on the wheel of my Lord’s will.. I know He is shaping me. I am in His hands – Left hand inside the vessel and right hand outside the vessel….My God satisfies my inner man with His mercy and divine touch and he supplies all my needs for the outer man with his helping touch. I am serving a living God of whom I have no words to express! I love Him so much.

God bless you brethren.

Mathew 25:20-21, ‘ So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them’. His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord’.

Jesus has used many parables to make us understand the importance of the Kingdom of God. Out of the 39 parables, 13 parables are about the Kingdom of Heaven, and each of these parables teaches us different and deeper truths. What is kingdom of God? Romans 14:17, ‘for the kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness and peace and Joy in the Holy Spirit.’ God has given us the freedom of choice between good and the bad, but he has suggested us to choose the good. That’s why he said in Mathew 6:33, ‘Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.’ You need to pursue the kingdom of God and after you find it, let it be your priority. This is what God wants us to do in terms of his kingdom. Luke 17:20-21 says, ‘Now when He was asked by the Pharisees about when the Kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “ The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say. ‘ see here!’ or ‘ see there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you”. Where God is, there is his rule and his kingdom. Mathew 18:20, “for where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them”. So while we are in this world, we enjoy the joy and peace of Kingdom of God, which is not seen with our naked eyes. But we must keep our lamps burning and waist girded to enter the real Kingdom of God. David says in Psalm 4:7, ‘You have put gladness in my heart, more than in the season that their grain and wine increased’. Later on, when he committed the sin against the Lord, he cries in Psalms 51:12, “Restore to me the joy of your salvation and uphold with Your generous Spirit.” The peace in the Kingdom of God is neither salary increase nor promotion, but it is the joy of our salvation. Even Habakkuk recognized the Kingdom of God in the midst of his generation (Habakkuk 3:17-18).Out of the thirteen parables, let us study about this parable which teaches us to be faithful in what we are given. Jesus is teaching through this parable of talents that we must to be faithful while we enjoy the goodness of his kingdom in this world, so that we remain faithful to enter the kingdom of God. Let this message bring you peace and strength in the Lord.

Let me draw the characters of this passage.
Here we see one master and three servants. Master was a hard man who liked to reap the harvest from where he had not sown. He gathered from where he had not scattered the seed. Out of the three servants, two were good and faithful and one was wicked, unfaithful and lazy.

This master is compared to our Lord and the servants, to his children.
Mathew 25:14-15 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey
This man being a hard master knew the ability of his servants. If a man can understand the ability of another man, then how much more can our Heavenly Father understand. He knows our ability and our weakness. Another thing to notice is that though this man was a hard man, he delivered his goods to his servants according to their ability. If he knows what is to be delivered and to whom, then how much more does our God knows? Every child of God is gifted, but these gifts differ from person to person. Our God shows no partiality. He gives according to his will and our ability. 1 Corinthians 12:4-10. ‘Now there are diversities of Gifts, but same spirit. There are differences of ministries, but same Lord.’ If you still read further, we see that everyone is gifted, but God has allotted different gifts to each one of us. So our responsibility is to understand what God has allotted to us.
Most of the Christians don’t know as to what gifts God has put inside them. Let this message be a blessing to you. Now you may ask ‘why this diversity?’ And why can’t God give same gifts to all? Good Question! Here is the answer. Romans 13:4, ‘for as we have many members in one body, all the members do not have the same function. Now let us go more deeper. 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, ‘ For as the body is one and has many members, but all members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one spirit we were all baptized into one body- whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free – and have all been made to drink into one spirit.’ So it’s clear that we all are members of Body of Christ. As all the members of the same body function differently, so all the members attached to the body of Christ has different roles, but of one Spirit. If the denomination knew this truth, there wouldn’t be any envy and conflicts.
1 Corinthians 12:18, ‘But now God has set the members, each one of them just as He pleased.’ Here this man gave five talents to one, two talents to another and one to the third servant because he knew the ability of each. Do not be jealous if God is using someone more mightily than you, but realize that God has bestowed on him that gift according to his will and that person’s ability.

Now let’s see what these servants did after receiving talents from their master.

Mathew 25:16-17, ‘Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.’
This master was a hard man but still he expected something from his servants. Then how much more will our Father in heaven expect from us? The problem with us is that after receiving the talents, we sit idle; we think that God has finished his work in us by giving us the gift. Paul says in Romans 13:6, ‘Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them;’ He says, ‘let us use the gift’. Let us trade and gain more through the gift that is received by grace. If God has given us the gift of prophesy; let us prophesy in proportion to our faith. Likewise, if your gift is singing – you better sing and if it is of speech—do speak. If you sit idle, whatever you have will be taken away from you, but if you use it for the glory of God, you will receive more by the power of God. So before the gift is taken from you, realize what God has bestowed on you and use them for the Glory of God. If you notice, these two servants traded what they had…In other words; they were faithful in what they were given. Nowadays, it is hard to find faithful people. We have professionals– professional speaker, professional singer, and professional musicians. Gift of God must not be used as a profession. Profession demands ability alone. So if you use the gift of God as a profession, you are depending on your ability more than the power and grace of God. Let me remind you. Gift of God will not work in our ability. It is like the branch not attached to the vine, because Jesus said “Ye can do nothing without me”.

Today’s world, including the church, is behind talented person. But you can never make out if he is a faithful. God wants some faithful people who will keep their lamp burning. These two servants were faithful in what they were given and they used the little they had. My beloved, you may not have great gifts like others. But realize one thing. If you choose to use what is inside you, God will exalt you to the level you never thought. Be faithful over few things and God will make you ruler over many. Now many of us think that we must be faithful when we are in the presence of God. No! We must be faithful even in our job and in our family. After all, if a man is not faithful to his wife, then how can he be faithful to God? If he is unfaithful to those that is seen, how can he be faithful to him who is unseen?

Now let us see the third servant who was wicked and lazy.

Mathew 25:18, ‘But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.’

God taught me a few points about this unfaithful servant as to why he was wicked and lazy?

1) He did not know his Master’s will
2) He did not use the talent
3) He was ignorant about what was given to him

If you are a person who is hiding what God has given to you, then you must read the above points. The other two servants knew the will of the master and that’s why they traded with the talents. They knew what was given to them. They used the talents and they were ready to do the work for their master. Since we are the members of the Body of Christ, let us function accordingly, where God has put us and let us use the gift that God has bestowed on us.

Luke 12:47 and 48, ‘ And that servant who knew his master’s will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he who did not know, yet committed things worthy of striped, shall be beaten with few…The third servant did not know as to what was given to him- He did not know that the 1 talent which he had was able to gain more talents, which would have pleased his master…He was ignorant about his master and his will. Are you ignorant like him?
Make up your mind today before God plans to take that remaining gift in you and give to someone else. If you know what God has kept inside you – try to use that talent for the Glory of God. Be faithful in every way. If we learn about Joseph, he was faithful in every circumstance. Even if you are in Potipher’s house – be faithful. No matter what the people say, be faithful in your calling. God will never leave us….Both the faithful servants were able to enter the joy of their lord. Let us be faithful to God. We can pretend before men, but do you think you can act before God? Be not men pleasers …Let us be God pleasers by being faithful to him till the end.

May God bless you

2 Kings 19:14, ‘ Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the LORD and spread it out before the LORD.’

All Glory to God!

Wow, I am just excited to see the response of King Hezekiah. He did not receive an invitation letter. In fact he had received a threatening mail and after reading it, he did not respond by calling his mighty army and wise men of the palace. Instead he spread it before the LORD. Isn’t it amazing ? You must understand one thing. During the times of King Hezekiah, there was no such revival meetings, bible studies or high class choirs to encourage him to spread his problem before the Lord. I always think that we are so privileged to have so many sources to hear the word, like good preachers, books, bible studies etc. All these are given to us to encourage us in the Lord, but sometimes we take them for granted. Hezekiah knew where he must spread his problem. Even now, some of us do not know where exactly we should submit our problems ! We like to spread our problems before our close friend or relatives who promises to keep it confidential. And sooner or later, we feel being cheated and comprehend the mistake! Why don’t you submit your petition to the Lord initially? Long back, my sister send me one text message which touched me, “When people hurt you or you feel offended by others, tell God, not gossipers. Take it to the throne, not the phone. God reduces the hurt while people reinforces it”. Isn’t that true? Your best friend cannot be trusted. Make it a point; neither can your prayer partner of your church . It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man! The two things about King Hezekiah that touched my heart is that as soon as he received the threatening letter and read it :

First, he went up to the temple of God. The presence of God is in the temple, and the Lord sits in the mercy throne. So, the King Hezekiah brought his problem to the presence of God. And when he brought the problem to the presence of God, he got this reply. 2 Kings 19:33 -34 “Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it. By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD. For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.” Amen! I am encouraged by this and I have decided that I will take every issue that pulls me back to the throne and not to the phone. I will not go before any men, but I will walk towards the presence of God.…because there is fullness of joy in HIS presence, there is healing and peace in HIS presence and there is solution for every questions in HIS presence. Disciples of Jesus once were in fear and so they locked their doors and sat inside the house. But Jesus came and stood in midst of them and said “Peace “and there was a great peace among them. When the wind and waves hit the boat, Jesus said “Peace and be still” and there was a great calm in the sea. You may be going through a lot of stuffs right now and it doesn’t matter how big your problem is, if you choose to come into the presence of God. If you come to HIS gates with thanksgiving and to HIS courts with praise, surely you will be a different man and woman after that. I have come across many brethren in our church who come and sit with sad faces and lot of burdens on them…But when the sweet presence of God touches them, they are no more the same. They go with HIS presence. Jesus said “without me ye can do nothing”. Let us take our petition to HIS presence.

Second, he spread it out before the Lord. The only reason behind that is, our Lord can read the threatening mail very well, even better than King Hezekiah. Yes! When you face threatening mails, phone calls and situations, better spread it before the Lord, because He can read it better than you. When the Lord read that letter, He did not command Michael, the arch angel or Gabriel to solve the problem . He sent one angel who when stepped in the Assyrian camp, smote hundred and eighty five thousand men (1, 85000) wow! God solved 1, 85000 problems in one night. Is there anyone who has a hundred and eighty five thousand problems? Do you think that God did not know that there is a red sea in your way ?? Yes! He knew it very well! So if He knew that there is a red sea, He also knows the concrete way in the red sea! Peter toiled whole night and caught nothing. Did Jesus tell him to toil one more night? No! HE said to cast the net deep and when Peter did that, he caught many fishes. God can turn your situation around in one night!

Even our hairs are numbered. The smallest thing of our life is numbered, and God knows who you are and what you are into! God knows how to divide that red sea in front of you. When God commanded the wind to blow over the sea, the waters which was a stumbling block for the children of God, moved back and there was concrete road in the midst. He will command the wind to blow over your situations that is not allowing you to move forward, and then you will see the road… God will enable you and strengthen you to walk on the thing which did not allowed you to walk initially!! Amen!
May God bless you with this !
