Believe, & You Will See The Glory Of God.

John11:40 , ‘Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe, you would see the glory of God?”

This question is not only for Martha. It’s for everyone. Did God not prove in the previous years through his work that He is able to do things, if we believe Him? Did He not say through his scriptures that He is able? Then why do we doubt Him? Let this message open our eyes. Glory to God alone!

There comes a point in everyone’s life, when one fails and gives up. A fifty year old successful man has to give up when he dies. Every expert doctor gives up after trying all their ways in vain. No one will take up the case of a dead person, because every case is closed after death. There is a proverb in Malayalam which says “why to look into the future of a dead child?” Death is a point where all flesh gives up. So our boasting is worthless, because even though we might have gained something, sooner or later we need to give them up. Death is a reality that no man wants to face. Death is the end for worldly men, but it is a new beginning for the one who believes in Christ Jesus. Death is the point where worldly men stop, but spiritual men start. Dead case is a gone case, and no one is able to interfere in a dead case. But when Jesus said to Martha “ Your brother will rise again”, He meant to say that even if no one else can handle a dead case, I am able. Your situation might be as worse as a dead case, but if you believe in Jesus, know this that ‘he is able’. Men cannot handle a dead case, but God can.

Jesus came to the house of Martha and Mary with an answer. He did not come just to comfort them like other people. He came to raise Lazarus from the dead. One thing to be noticed in this chapter is that Mary and Martha called Jesus when their brother was sick, but stopped calling him when Lazarus was dead.

This is what happens to us. We call upon God when we think that He can do something to change our situation, but as soon as we come to the point where everything seems to have ended, we give up and stop calling upon Him. Do not stop calling upon Him, even if you see that all ways are closed. God has yet another way to deal your case. Amen!

While Jesus was coming towards Bethany, Martha met Him on the way.
Let me put Martha’s words here :

Martha:Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died”.

Martha believed that Jesus had the power to heal the sick and hold her brother from dying…That is faith, but in the next statement, we learn that Martha had not actually believed Jesus. In fact, she doubted Him.

Martha: “But even now, I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.”

In my earlier days, I used to think that Martha had great faith when she said, “ even now I know that whatever you ask of God, God will give you.” But the Lord taught me something, which opened my eyes. She was actually saying, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died, but since you were not here, he is dead now. But because of this, I am not doubting you. I still believe that you can perform miracles and do great wonders.” Now , Jesus perceived her doubt and replied “Your brother will rise again” . Though Martha’s statement was of great faith, she doubted. She did not believe that Jesus could raise her dead brother to life then and there.

Jesus: “Your brother will rise again”.
Jesus perceived her doubts and replied and made her to realize that her brother will rise again

Martha: “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Now this statement proves that Martha did not believe that her brother would rise again.

Martha used the phrase “I know”, twice in the conversation. She doubted because of the poor knowledge about Christ. She did not have the true knowledge about Christ. Yes ! A belief without knowledge is a doubt. One who knows the Lord will not doubt.. Are you a person who believes Jesus without knowing Him? Paul said, “I know whom I believe.” Do we know Him whom we believe? Martha knew that Jesus could heal the sick, but she did not know that the same Jesus could raise the dead. You cannot believe Him today with yesterday’s knowledge, because you face a new thing today. Knowledge about God must increase day by day. A software engineer updates his knowledge about the new features. He cannot survive in the job market with what he had learnt years back, because the market has introduced new features. Many of us believe God with yesterday’s knowledge. That’s why, we fumble and doubt. We must have both knowledge and belief. Knowledge without belief is null! Abraham not only believed God, but he also knew Him. On the other hand, Lot did not have either. How did their lives end ? Moses saw the invisible one in the bush and so he stood firm in front of every power. The sea gave way to the one who knew God. Here, Martha also believed Jesus with yesterday’s experience, but Jesus wanted to increase her knowledge about Him. So he told her “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die”. The one who breathed life into our nostrils has the power to give life into dead nostrils. Jesus has the power to take life and give life because He is life. The family of Bethany knew that Jesus had dominion over sickness and sin, but they did not know that He has power over death also. Death is the ultimate thing that can happen to a person. But Jesus has dominion over death too. If death has no dominion over Christ, then there is nothing that can hold Christ Jesus…He is above all ! So the test in Martha and Mary’s life was to increase their knowledge about Him. So if our knowledge about Christ is not increasing in the test , then we have failed in the test. What is the real blessing? It is how much more we have known Christ today than yesterday!

When Jesus approached the tomb, Martha again stopped him by saying “Lord by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days”. Some people seem to have more knowledge than Jesus. I believe that Lazarus did not stench, because his future was not going to eaten up by worms. He was going to live. Yes! Everything that devil says is a lie. Who told you that your future is going to be eaten up by worms???

Jesus gave Martha the assurance about raising Lazarus and tried to increase her knowledge. But still, she doubted by talking about the time past death. The one who can gives life was standing beside her. But Martha was seeing more of her situation than Christ Jesus….As I said earlier, our faith increases when the knowledge about God increases. Likewise, our faith remains stable, if our focus is stable on the author and finisher of our faith. Martha failed to have both …Though the Lord tried to open her blind eyes, she could not perceive. And then instead of focusing on Jesus, she was focusing on the stench case… ‘While all people were standing, Jesus said with a loud voice “Lazarus, come forth” and the dead man came out ….’ Life (Christ Jesus) called the dead because the life has dominion over dead!

Has our knowledge about Christ increased from that in last year? If so, our faith has increased…The one who knows God will believe Him. Instead of looking into his situation, he will look unto Him, in whom he believes.

Know Him first and believe! Don’t live with yesterdays knowledge…know Him more today!

Believe, and you will see the glory of God

Let us abide in Him and bear fruits for him who grafted us to the true vine.

This Sickness Is Not Unto Death.

John 11:4 When Jesus heard that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.

Lazarus was sick and was down to death, but Jesus said, “This sickness is not unto death.” It doesn’t matter as to what your experience is and what people around say about your situation. What matters is what the Lord has said, because at the end, what the Lord has said will be accomplished. Martha and Mary sent their request to Jesus at the proper time and they received an answer from the Lord. Here, in His grace, I want to glean something that Martha and Mary failed to understand from the answer to their petition. The literal meaning of death is the “end” and here, the sickness of Lazarus was a test. God will test his children, and in some cases, he gives surprise tests too …So the main idea is that we should pray for grace to face the test. When Jesus said that the sickness was not unto death, He meant to say that “this test is not your end”. God’s testing doesn’t mean that He is ending, but in fact He is beginning. When a potter completes making vessels, he puts them on fire and interestingly, the stronger one are kept at the bottom and the weaker ones are laid over them….Now the stronger ones might ask the potter, “why have you put me on fire and why have you laid others on me?” The potter will answer, “even though you are complete, the color of your mud must change to red.” So God has a purpose for your going through fire. He wants to change the color of your texture…Are we living a colorless Christian life? If yes, expect the fire test soon…God wants his children to walk with Him. So, the testing is for a higher walk with God.

Joseph was tested for thirteen long years. But he asked help from a man once i.e. the butler. But the butler did not remember him. There too, God taught him something. If we were in his stage, we would have approached many…Even the greatest among women, John the Baptist doubted when he was tested. Abraham, father of nations, fumbled while being tested. All through out the scriptures, I found only one MAN who did not doubt His Father…and He is Jesus Christ. When the devil tempted Jesus to make bread out of the stones, He did not yield in order to prove the devil that he is indeed the Son of God. A few moments before, the heaven had opened and a loud voice had declared Jesus as the ‘beloved Son of God.’ Had Jesus turned the stones into bread, it would mean that he had doubted the voice of the Father….But he replied the devil that “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that cometh from the mouth of God”.

As we all know that Lazarus was dead, in spite of Jesus saying that his sickness was not unto death. Because of this, the sisters had lost their complete faith in Jesus as for their brother’s case. Is there anyone who is going through this kind of situation? You believed initially that God would work in your case, but in the mid way, everything is going against the promise which is pulling down your faith every moment? In the scriptures, I found two things that challenge the promises of God. They are:

1) Devil will not sit calm : If you have a promise of God in you, the devil is jealous and will try to do all sorts of things to make you loose His promise. If there is a promise, then there is an attack. And if there is no promise, there is no attack.

2) Situations will be against the promise– This is because that God’s thoughts and ways are different from ours.

Chances of losing faith when things go against expectations– This happens almost to every Christian. When we hear a promise, we scale it with our thoughts and ways and expect the situations to move in that angle. But God never told us about His ways of making the promises come to pass. He has his own ways to work them out. So when we hear promises, leave the ways of the same to God. Why was Joseph sold as a slave? It was because of the promise that he would become a master. Did Joseph try his ways to become a master? No! He waited upon God and left the ways to that promise in the hands of God. And we all know the result of that…Indeed, he became the master!

At some point of time, even Noah thought that he would be drowned in the flood, but he was saved at the end…The apostle, John thought that his ministry is finished when he was sent to the island of Patmos, but that was only a beginning. For what seems to be the ‘end’ in our eyes turns out to be the ‘beginning’ in the eyes of the Lord. So to overcome this, do not see things in our perception. Ask God to give grace to face and see through God’s lens. Are we really looking through God’s lens or through man made lens? Let me tell you today that, God’s lens is magnified. We can see things clear and closer. Does the promise seem to be far for you? Seek to see through God’s lens. In other words, if our inner eyes are opened, we can see with certainty in the midst of uncertainty.

The family of Bethany went through some tests. When the situations worked against their faith, they started to fumble. We can see that from the reply of Martha and Mary. They said “Lord if you had been here, our brother wouldn’t have died”. They meant to say that Jesus was not present while they went through this test. Was Jesus was not aware of the things that were going? He even knew when exactly, Lazarus breathed last. “The one who breathed life into the nostrils knew when the life went”. We may think that God has abandoned us while we are tested. But remember that He is fully aware of all things that we are going through. Martha had no faith that Jesus could raise her brother. So she said that her brother would rise in the day of resurrection. Is there anyone who has lost all the hope in the turmoil, and is expecting nothing to happen in their life? Jesus has the power to give back the life, because he is resurrection and life. Further, V35, the smallest verse of the bible says,
“Jesus wept”. Even though it is the smallest, it has a great meaning. A true friend is one who smiles, when you smile and cries when you cry. Jesus was present with Mary and Martha every moment. He never forsook them….Here is a message for you and me…He will never leave us orphans!

Jesus did not remove the stone from the tomb of Lazarus. But He asked ‘them’ to take away the stone. Whoever had laid the stone was asked to remove it. Are there any stones of unbelief or sin in us? Don’t expect God to remove them. We must remove them ourselves.

What is that stone in our life that is hindering Jesus? They had laid that stone in front of the tomb. In other words, they had laid the stone of unbelief in front of their answer. It is not our neighbors or our relatives who are responsible for the delay in the fulfillment of our promises. It’s the stones that we have laid ourselves…Let us remove that first and believe what God has told us. Lazarus could rise from the dead only when the stone was removed. Jesus could speak to the dead only when the stone was removed. Have we laid any stone of our father’s tradition, fashions of this world, doubt, grumbling etc.? Then let’s take that stone away. There are stones which only God can remove but there are stones which we must remove! God testing is not the ending! Let us put our trust in the Lord because he never fails! God can move mountains and heavens but he cannot move from His word!

Let us abide in Him and bear much fruit

God bless you

What the Lord has said will be accomplish

Luke 1:45 “Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.”

Here, who is the blessed person? The woman who believed is the blessed person. Those who believe are the once who are blessed. What does ‘to believe’ mean ? It means to believe on the things which had never happened before. Earlier we had the faith, but now we see the promise which we believed , come into pass. So if we believe now, we will see the promise tomorrow. If we just have a dream today, it will come to pass tomorrow. Believe what the Lord has said, because whatever He has said, will be accomplished. Amen! May the Lord Almighty speak to you

The angel of the Lord appeared to two different persons in two different times and gave each, two seemingly impossible promises. He appeared first to the priest Zacharias and said that his prayer was heard, and that his wife, Elizabeth would bear a child. But the priest who had a good experience in the ministry, doubted the word of God. This same angel appeared to Mary and said a seemingly impossible promise, which had never happened before in the history. Yet, Mary believed and was blessed, but the priest was mute for nine months. There were only two instances when Jesus marveled. He ‘marveled’ seeing the faith of the centurion and secondly, He ‘marveled ‘ when He saw the disbelief of the people. Is God ‘marveled’ today by seeing our faith or disbelief? Let us ask ourselves.

Luke 1:6-20– Let us study the life of Zacharias and the confirmation he had received from the angel of the Lord. This man was righteous, not only before men, but also before God. He walked blameless in all commandments and ordinances of the Lord . One day, according to the custom of the priest’s office, his lot was to burn incense. Indeed, if you are appointed by God, it means that the lot has fallen on you. It is not a church or any man who makes the lot fall on any person, but it’s the Lord who chooses and appoints His anointed.

Not everyone who is called is chosen. But when the God’s lot falls on someone, then he is separated for some task. God separated Abraham, Moses, David, Samson, Paul, Peter etc. While Zacharias was standing on the right side of the altar of incense, the angel of the Lord appeared to him. Seeing him, Zacharias was troubled…In other words, Zacharias had not expected the angel’s appearance. He was doing the duty of a priest as a custom, and did not expect anything new from the Lord…Are we doing the same? Do we expect anything different when we come into the presence of God? Or are we fulfilling some customs and practices by singing some songs and hearing the preacher preaching? Let us expect something new whenever we are in His presence. The first words of angel was “Fear not, Zacharias; for thy prayer is heard”. People know the preacher, but heaven knows a prayerful man. No where in the bible is mentioned that Zacharias was a prayerful man, but the angel addressed him by saying that his prayer was heard. It is for sure that both Zacharias and Elizabeth prayed for a child since long years, but in the due time, Lord gave them an answer to their prayers. The answer of our prayer might tarry, but let us not lose heart while praying, because we will receive answers of each and every petition in His time. Zacharias received great confirmation about the child, but at the end, he did not believe. We also do likewise. We see great visions and confirmation from our Lord, but at the end, we doubt His word. Even this experienced man of God, who walked in the commandments of God, who knew the case of Abraham and Sarah, doubted God’s promise. Zacharias said to the angel, “whereby shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.” But the reply of Gabriel was interesting. Verse 19, ‘.. and the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stands in the presence of God”…In other words, he was saying “Zacharias, you stand before men who change their promises, but I stand before the ONE who does not change His promise” . This Man of God was dumb for nine months because he did not believe the word of God. For John, the Baptist to take birth in that house, the doubting father had to keep his mouth shut. Are you a doubting believer in your church ? Are you a doubting husband or wife ? If yes, let us learn from this…Even if Zacharias would have received greater confirmation of the promise, he would have still looked with his physical eyes and doubted the word of God.

God does not work as per our situations…Even though the door is closed, He can come in. Even though the boat is sinking in the midst of a turbulent sea, He can walk on waters to reach the sinking boat, and even though the situation is stinking since four days, He can raise up.

Now, let us look as to how Mary reacted after hearing the word of God.

Luke 1: 30-38The angel of the Lord said to Mary who was espoused to a man that she would conceive a Son. This had never happened in the history of mankind. That’s why Mary doubted initially. But when the angel of the Lord cleared her doubts, and showed her the sign of her aged cousin Elisabeth, who had conceived a son, Mary believed the word of God and received the promise. Indeed, Mary believed on something which had never happened before. It is easy to believe on something which has occurred earlier, but it’s hard to believe on something which had never occurred before. Noah did not know the definition of rain, yet he believed and so he was saved. As I mentioned before, is God marveled by seeing our faith or by our unbelief? May this message ask us a question within us.

May God bless you!

Jn.20:23, “If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

This verse is wrongly interpreted by people who claim that confessing to a priest is biblical. Let me start this by saying that there is no sinner whom God cannot redeem and there is no saint who does not need salvation. All have sinned and fallen short from the glory of God. This statement is pretty powerful and more than enough to nullify the practice of confessing to a priest or any saint. It was our iniquity that separated us from our Lord. To heal this marred relationship, God sent His only begotten Son. If priests could forgive the sins, then God did not have the need to send His Son. He could have given authority to the priests or so called saints to forgive sins. But since all have sinned and fallen short from the glory of God, the Word Himself incarnated in the likeness of sinful flesh, dwelt among us, laid his life for us and drew all mankind to Himself by his sacrificial death on the cross…God has not given authority to any priest or saint to forgive the sins. Through one man’s disobedience, many were sinners. Likewise, by one man’s obedience, many will be made righteous. God gave no one the authority to do the advocacy or act like a mediator with the Father. A mediator must have at least two qualities:

• He must be God – How can a sinful man mediate for the sinful men with the sinless God? A mediator should represent both sides equally. Jesus was fully God. He was fully holy. Hence He represents God rightly. At the same time, He was fully man. He faced sin like any other man, thereby representing mankind rightly.

• He must have complete knowledge about God and complete knowledge about men– Can you show me any one person other than Jesus who has this knowledge? Jesus was fully God and fully man. Can you show me anyone else with this character? Bible says in 1 Timothy 2:5, ‘For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.’ Can any tradition deny this word? If I have pure milk in a cup and I drop a small amount of poison in it…then it is no more pure, it is poison. A truth with small amount of tradition and men’s law is not truth at all. It is a lie.

When the Son of Man cried “It is finished” on the cross, it was the most painful moment in the scorching heat of the sun. The wrath of God towards men was finished, destroying the barrier and dividing the wall of hostility between God and man. Through Him, we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Through Jesus, we received the medicine for our salvation, just like the children of Israel received life when they looked upon the Moses’s raised brass serpent. Anyone who looks upon Jesus will be healed from the poison of sin, just as the Israelites were healed from the poison of the serpent when they looked upon the risen brass serpent.

Plain reading of this verse sounds to mean that the apostles have the power to forgive the sins of people. But the truth is that no one other than Jesus Himself has the authority to forgive the sins. In this passage, Jesus is sending out the apostles with the mission of carrying the gospel to the ends of the world. In other words, God gave us the authority to carry the medicine of sin but forgiveness is His part. By this particular verse, Jesus meant to say that if they did not carry the gospel to the other parts of the world, people in those parts will not be able to receive forgiveness for their sins. For instance, if the Apostle is not going to India, people of India will not hear the good news and so their sins are not forgiven…God will not send His Son again to the world, but He has given us, who are brought by His precious blood. the great mission to carry the good news which cause forgiveness of sins. It is our responsibility to give others the gospel message, the medicine through which alone any man receives forgiveness. But in case, even after sharing the gospel, the person does not receive the message in faith, then it is not the responsibility of the servant of God for his or her being unforgiven.

I would like to show one person from the Bible who chose to confess before the priests. Judas Iscariot- With a repentant heart, Judas approached the priests and elders but what did they reply to this helpless Judas? Mathew 27:4 (Judas) I have sinned, “he said. “For I have betrayed innocent blood.” “What is that to us?” they replied. “That‘s your responsibility.” Did the priest give him the solution for his sinfulness? No! They could not. Then why do some approach the Modern Day priests and confess their sins to them? Confessing your sins to a priest will not work! Did God give authority to anyone to blot out transgressions? There is only one Name given among men to do that and His name is Jesus.

Roman Catholic Church believes that Peter was the first pope. Let’s see what this first pope did for his confession part and what he wanted to say to each of us.Acts of Apostles 8: 18-23, ‘ When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money and said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord ,hope that he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.”
One man was caught red handed by Peter, but did that man confess his sin to Peter (the first pope)? What did Peter say to him? Repent of the wickedness and pray to the Lord…Did Peter ask him to confess to him? If the first pope did not say that, then why do the other popes claim this? And the most important thing…mark the words of Peter. He said…”the Lord may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart”….This means that even Peter did not know if the Lord would forgive this man’s sin….If the first pope did not know whether the sins would be forgiven or not, then how come that the modern day priests and popes determine the forgiveness of sins …dear friends, forgiving sins is in the hands of the Son.

What does the church and tradition teaches that is not important at all in the sight of the Lord and God has a zero values of it…No one can add to or Take away from God’s word. What does the Bible teaches about confession?
Hebrew 10:19-21 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water
Many are ignorant about the truth of what they actually received after the sacrificial death of Jesus. This verse is more than enough to know what exactly we received.

• We received Confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus – In Old Testament only the High Priest could enter the Most Holy Place but when Jesus cried ” It is finished” the curtain of the temple was torn from top to bottom, the curtain that was hindering us to enter the Most Holy place was torned after the sacrificial death of Christ Jesus, thereby now we dont need any mediators like priest, pastors, mother, brothers or sisters to hear our prayer but now we can call HIM ” Our Heavenly Father “.

• We received a New and Living way through the curtain, that is, His body – Like the curtain was torn from top to bottom, the body of Christ Jesus was torn from top to bottom. He gave his last drop of blood to all mankind and if anyone believe this and accept Jesus as their personal savior, they receive a New and Living way. The wages of sin is death but gift of God through Jesus Christ is eternal life. Indeed 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
So Paul concludes this verse by saying ” let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings” Word of God cleary says to draw near to God and not to any men!Remember, that when we approach priest or any saint for confession, we are denying the truth that Jesus died for us,. Through His death, we received the access to God…Let us approach Him who alone is righteous and who alone is able to make us righteous.

If we draw near to Men, We draw away from God !! …Simple but powerful

God bless you!
