THERE IS HOPE EVEN IF THE DOORS ARE CLOSED

John 20: 19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”

Disciples closed the door for they feared the Jews. The room was initially filled with fear, but soon, the room was filled with peace because the prince of peace stepped inside the closed door. Have you lost all your hopes and are your dreams fully shattered? Are all your doors closed? Let this message heal you today, because there is a hope even if all the doors are closed, because Jesus has the power to step inside the closed door. Door refers to ‘opportunities’. The disciples were called to do great things, but ‘fear’ had closed all their expectations and opportunities. There are many kinds of fear. Fear is something which we cannot ignore when it really masters us. But God has given us His Spirit. So, we are not slaves of fear, but we are masters. There is a fear which we should ‘have’ and there are fears which we should ‘not have’. We must have reverential fear towards God, but we should not fear men and devil. The Spirit that is dwelling in us comes from above and is above all power. Fear does not come from God. It comes from the devil through lies i.e. by covering the truth. Devil fears the truth. So, he tries to blind our eyes with his lies and makes us fear on certain issues, where God has already provided! Jews tried many times to kill and stone them but all those times, the disciples did not fear. They were even ready to die with Jesus. This was because they were with Jesus, but now Jesus was not with them…yes! Fear arises when we go away from our Lord. God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all….So how can a man who is clinging to God fear? In other words, closed doors without Jesus gives us fear, while the closed doors with Jesus in midst, gives us peace. Let us go more deep into the subject.

Doors closed by ourselves

Disciples were called to save souls but now, they themselves had closed the door. Are you doing the same? God has called you for some purpose and he has shown you great mysteries, but now you have closed the door by yourself? Have you come into your own assumption and closed the door? Did anyone tell you something which has made you refrain yourself and close the door? Remember, God has not called you to be inside the closed doors. Your future is not in the closed doors. He has great plans for you. Do not close the doors by yourselves.
Come out of all wrong assumptions and fear of people…the devil is a liar. Jesus stepped inside without knocking the door and said to them “PEACE”….The room was filled with the smoke of fear but Jesus opened the door and the smoke of fear vanished! Amen! These disciples who were in fear inside the closed door, later on shook the whole world. What would have been their future if they would have decided to remain behind the closed doors? Let us not close the door by ourselves. Do not go into the cave of your own thinking and close the door. If some one has mocked you and did anything against you, the enemy is happy when you are inside the closed doors.

Doors closed by the devil

Satan and his minions are always in an attempt to close all the doors of a child of God. When the Devil found that the gospel of God was spreading all over the world, he tried to close it’s door by putting Peter inside the closed door of a prison. He thought that by this, he could stop the ministry. But God sent His angel and brought Peter out of the chains. Devil can put people who preach gospel within the closed doors but he cannot put the gospel within the closed
doors, because Gospel is the power of God. It is the counsel of God and the devil cannot stand before the Gospel…The Gospel that we preach has the power to take us out from every closed inner cells. God will send his angels charge over every blood washed child of God, according to His riches in Glory. Acts 19:22-25, ‘The crowd joined in the attack against Paul and Silas, and the magistrates ordered them to be stripped and beaten with rods. 23 After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer was commanded to guard them carefully. 24 When he received these orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks. 25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.’ Paul and Silas were kept inside the closed doors because the work of God was revealed through them in that particular city. They were flogged severely with their feet fastened in the stocks, and thrown in the inner cell. But yet they were praying and singing. It is not an easy
thing to pray and sing inside the closed door, when every opportunity seems to be closed forever. But let me tell you this that they prayed to God. In other words, they decided to talk to God and not to men. If doors are being closed everywhere, then stop talking to men and start talking to God. Besides praying, they sang hymns to God…Usually, we sing when everything is going good. There are three types of people : 1) people who sing in good times 2) people who sing in bad times and 3) people who sings all the time. A true child of God belongs to the third group. Paul and Silas were not in a situation to pray and sing. Even though they were weak outward, they were strong inward. God expects his children to be strong inward when the enemy closes the doors against them. What was the outcome of this worship inside the closed door? The foundation of the prison was shaken. If our foundation on Christ is firm, every other foundation will be shaken. The jailer and his household were saved. The jailer who flogged Paul and Silas, found himself washing their wounds. Indeed, this closed door was a great opportunity to preach the word to the lost within the closed doors. They were thrown inside the jail initially but they were escorted out finally. V.39 They came to appease them and escorted them from the prison, requesting them to leave the city. They were honored in the same city where they were put to shame earlier. What a victory for those within the closed doors, who did not grumble but prayed and worshiped God. The Devil was put to shame. No matter how strong the devil has closed the door, the Spirit dwelling in us has the power to overcome every attack of the devil. Greater is the one who is in us than the one who is in this world. Daniel was inside the closed door among the hungry lions, but God commanded the lions to not to touch His man…We may pass through some dangers inside the closed doors, but none will come nigh us

Doors closed by people

It’s painful when the doors are closed by our own brothers and friends, whom we trusted.Who closed the doors of Joseph? It was his own brothers. Two years back, we as a family went through fire. Some of the brothers in Christ blocked all our ways and pulled the shutters down. We looked around and saw none and at that point of time, we decided to look above. God was gracious to us and within few days, God opened new ways which no one can shut. If a man has shut the door, God can open it, but if God has opened the door, no one can shut it.I heard a preacher saying that when Joseph laid inside the prison of the king, where the other prisoners were king’s officials… Joseph was cast into that prison so that he could learn about king through the prisoners who were king’s officials …amen! I was touched by this example.
Even if the doors have been closed by our own people, remember that God has something to teach us inside the closed doors. It doesn’t matter who has closed the door, God has the key to open every closed door… Let us not close doors by ourselves. Look unto those disciples. They were normal people like us, but afterwards they were mighty men who did not fear kings, prison, devil and the world…You may have closed all the doors by yourselves because of fear or any other reason, but Jesus was chastisement for our peace and His peace is the only medicine to deliver us from every fear!

Let us abide in Him and be a fruitful branch to the Master who has called us. Let the name of Jesus be glorified.

With Love and prayers,
Abiding in Him

WHOEVER IS BORN OF GOD WILL OVERCOME THE WORLD

John 14:30, ‘ I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.’

Praise the Lord! Those who are born of God are like a boat in the sea of this world. As long as the water is beneath the boat, it will reach the other shore. But once water starts entering this boat, it will start sinking. A sinking boat cannot come up by itself. It needs a crane. A divine hand can only help a person who is sinking into this world. Let us see what Jesus said “The ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me”. We learn three points out of this statement : First, He has nothing in common with Me; Second, there is nothing in Me that belongs to him, and Third, he has no power over Me. What an example ! This is what we should learn and practice daily in our life. Do we have anything in common with the world and its ruler? Is there anything in us that belongs to this ruler? Who is mastering you? Are you a slave of sin or righteousness? Verily verily, I say, if we share anything in common with this world and it’s ruler, we will have his belongings in us that will make us a slave unto the ruler of this world. Most Christians does not know this. Jesus did not share anything with the world and so he had nothing that belonged to the world. That’s why, it was impossible for the world and it’s ruler to master him. We are the children of God; we ought to live like Christ lived. This is the true grace of God 1 Peter 2:21, ‘ For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps.’: As I mentioned in the earlier Rhema, that ‘world’ is not a house or any material. It is the system that is governed by Satan. Money is the ruling component of this system, followed by lust of flesh, lust of eyes and pride of life. World is a an army that hates our Lord and His children. If you love this world, the love of Father is not in you. How can you recognize a true child of God ? A true child will be hated by the world because it hated his Father, and vice versa. Let us see a few verses to understand this. John 15:18-19, ‘ if the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. ‘ This is very important to understand; Jesus said,” do not be surprised when the world hates you,” and further he said that we must understand why it hates us. It’s because it hated Him first . If we are of the world , the world will love us. But it hates us, because God chose us out of this world. No one should think that he can choose world and God together. If your heart is set on this world, you don’t have the love of Father in you. If we are born of God, how can we live or like a double standard life. I don’t believe that a person can have one point of world and 99 points of God. We have lot more Christians like this, who talks like a godly person when they are around with godly people, but almost worldly, when they are in the world. They write for both spiritual blogs and worldly blogs. I am convinced that such kind of people are not born of God, because the Bible clearly says in 1 John 2:15… ‘if anyone loves the world, the love of Father is not in him.’ It doesn’t say that if anyone loves ‘something’ of this world…That one point of world is enough to make you worldly!

Christianity is not a tradition or a religion . It is a life living like Christ. A true Christian is dead to sin and to the world, but alive in Christ . Rest all are fake and cults! They are like the fake bank notes…the color and the number will be same but has no values!! We boast more about our father’s tradition & well educated children. We seek desires of flesh; We strive to have fat salaries and good savings. Every foundation that is set on corruptible things will be shaken soon, but the righteous who have set his foundation on Christ Jesus will stand forever! Amen! We by ourselves, cannot live a Christian life. If we do that, we will surely sink and the Devil will master us, but when we are born of God, we will overcome the world and its ruler. I would like to bring three verses to your attention about the one truly born of God who overcomes the world .

1 John 3:9, ‘whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.’

When the seed (Word of God) is sowed in us, we are born into a new life (John 3:5).As long as the seed (Word of God) remains in us, we cannot sin. A person who keeps the word will hate the world. Now here, keeping the word doesn’t mean remembering it. It means observing, practicing, walking, abiding and living as per the word..Those who observe will practice and those who practice will walk and those who walk will abide and those who abide will live…amen! The one who is born of God only can live a sinless life, and keeping the seed of God in us is the secret !

1 John 5:4, ‘ For whatever is born of God, overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.’

Every God-begotten person conquers world’s ways. The conquering power that brings the world to its knees is our faith. The person who wins over the world’s ways is simply the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. If the faith is genuine, the world, money and the devil will be under our feet. Why does the world and sin master us ? It’s because our faith in Jesus Christ is not genuine…as simple as that!

1 John 5:18, ‘ we know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself and the wicked one does not touch him.’

We know [absolutely] that anyone born of God does not [deliberately and knowingly] practice sin. But the one who is begotten of God carefully watches over and protects him [Christ’s divine presence within him preserves him against the evil], and the wicked one does not lay hold (get a grip) on him or touch [him]. (Amplified Bible). Casting out devils is not the solution here, but living a Christ like life will cast away the devil.

The world and its things had no part in Jesus because He loved His Father. How do we know that He loved His Father? It’s because he abides in His Father. If we say that we love HIM, we must abide in Him. There are many verses that denote Christ’s love for the Father. I will bring a few verses into your attention.

John 4:34, ‘ Jesus said to them, “My Food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.”’

Food is the basic need of any human being and so, it’s the priority for many. We work for food, but for Jesus, his basic need was doing the will of the Father. In other words, His priority was His Father and not this world. What is our priority? Ask yourself , and determine your priority. Whatsoever is big in our heart is our God. Who and what is big in your heart? Is it money, yourself, fame, your family, Job, world or God?If world is your priority, it will sink you, but if God is your priority, He will uphold you! Mathew 6:33, ‘ Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.’ This is the commandment of Jesus and how many of us follow this truly and sincerely?

John 8:29, ‘ And He who has sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.’ John 5:41, ‘ I do not receive honor from men.’

The Father will not leave anyone who does things that pleases Him. So it is sure that the Father is not with us if we do not do things that does not please Him. Are we longing to please our Father in heaven or the men of this world? Those who please God cannot please world. Are we dressing up and living to please the world? Or are we doing things that is pleasing God? Let this put a question in you.

John 5:19, ‘ Then Jesus answered and said to them, “ Most assuredly I say to you, the son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do, so whatever He does the son also does in the like manner.”’

For this reason God manifested to the world to set an example that how we should live a life that is pleasing Him. The Son did in the same manner whatever the Father did. Are we following this? I will leave this to you!

If we are full of Father’s love, we will overcome the world, because we are not born of will of flesh or men but by the will of God …let us live for Him who has begotten us.

Jesus is coming soon, world and it things will pass away but whoever is of Christ will stand forever! Amen

Peace and grace of God be with you

Unless You are Born Again, You Shall Not See The Kingdom Of God.

John 3:3, ‘Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”.

This is one of the serious commands of Jesus to every person in this world. But people have taken this very lightly. The greatest deception in this generation is that it has taken the phrase, ‘most assuredly’ as ‘least assuredly.’ Jesus spoke with great authority that ‘Divorce is forbidden’ but we take it lightly. The things which we are taking lightly now, will have more weight, when we appear before the judgment seat. This is the naked truth and most of us are deceived knowingly. Born again experience is not a denominational teaching. It’s the Lord’s commandment. If you look at this through the lens of a denomination, you will never experience it. But if you see it through the lens of God, you will understand and observe this command…Jesus clearly said “unless you are born again you shall not see the kingdom of God”. Beloved friends, there is no substitute for this. If you are not born again, it is sure that you will not see the kingdom of God. Now you may ask me, “Have you seen the kingdom of God after being born again?” My answer is ‘yes!’ I have seen it and am seeing it every moment. Here the word ‘seeing’ means “perception”. My perception about the kingdom of God changed after I was born again. Even though I have not entered into the mansion that God has prepared for me, but the born again experience has given me a vision and a great hope inside me that I will see the kingdom of God one day. The necessity of the new birth grows out of the incapability of the natural man to “see” or to “enter” the kingdom of God. How much ever gifted or religious or refined he may be, a natural man is absolutely blind to the spiritual truth, and impotent to enter the kingdom of God. In John 3:6, Jesus said, “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which born of the Spirit is spirit”. We are born of flesh and so we are flesh, and no flesh can please God and see His kingdom. But that which is born of the Holy Spirit is spirit, and this helps us to have the right perception and hope about the kingdom of God.

The Word of God is like the railway track. If we are on this track, we will reach the heavenly destination, but if someone is out of track, he will never reach the heavenly destination. If we can’t explain the word, it doesn’t mean that we can twist the word of God…If the word says to do a certain thing, we have to do it! Amen!

One night, a man named Nicodemus, who was a Pharisee, the ruler of the Jews and a teacher of Israel, came to meet Jesus. He came with a question in his mind. I believe that he had been thinking about this question since long. He might have looked for an answer from all that he had learnt, but couldn’t find any answer. So at last, he came to Jesus. There is a message here! If you are finding it difficult to answer your own and other’s questions, come to Jesus, because He is the answer to all questions! Halleluiah! Amen! This man started the conversation by praising Jesus and His works. But my Lord didn’t talk too much. So, he came straight to the point and answered Nicodemus’s question. He said, “Most assuredly I say unto you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”. Nicodemus was a good man. He knew the law and was a teacher of the same. If you notice the answer of Jesus ….he said “Unless one is born again…” which means that this born again experience is not only for Nicodemus, but for everyone. Some believe that this is a teaching of a group or sect of people. But, that’s not right. To be ‘born again’ is a universal commandment. In John 3:7, Jesus said personally to Nicodemus “Do not marvel that I said to you, “You must be born again”. This proves that the phrase which he used earlier was not only for Nicodemus, but it is for everyone on the face of the earth. So we conclude here that born again experience is for every mankind. Amen!

Do we need to be born again?

Well, the answer is ‘yes, we need to be born again.’ Why is it necessary? Because, this is a commandment of Jesus Christ. The necessity of the new birth grows out of the incapability of the natural man to “see” or “enter” the kingdom of God (1 Cor 15:50). How much ever gifted, moral, or refined he may be, a natural man is absolutely blind to the spiritual truth and impotent to enter the kingdom of God; for he can never obey, understand, nor please God (Psa 51:5 , Jeremiah 17:9. Mk 7:21-23, 1 Cor 2:14, Rom 8:7-8) Flesh is what we are by nature. It refers to ordinary humanity. By our first birth, we are only flesh. The natural human condition, as we experience it, is spiritually lifeless. At birth, we are not spiritually alive nor do we have a heart that loves God. We are born spiritually dead. That’s what Jesus implied when a disciple wanted to go home for funeral, when asked to follow Jesus. He said, “Leave the dead to bury their own dead” (Luke 9:60). In other words, the spiritually dead will bury the physically dead ones, who need the funeral. He implied this again in the parable of prodigal son. The father said, “This, my son, was dead, and is alive again.” (Luke 15:24). So, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3). The dead can’t see God’s kingdom as supremely desirable. It looks foolish or mythical or boring. So they cannot enter the kingdom of God (John 3:5) they cannot, because it is foolishness to them.

What is the meaning of Born Again?

Ezekiel 36:25-27, ‘I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.’ This verse is from Old Testament. And Nicodemus, being a teacher of Israel, knows this very well. That’s why Jesus asked him, “Do you not know this?” Let us go more deep into this verse. The bottom line of this verse is that a dead cannot regenerate dead. It is possible only through the living word of God and by the Spirit of God. The new birth is not a reformation of the old nature (Rom 6:6), but a creative act of the Holy Spirit. The condition of the new birth is faith in Christ crucified (John 3:14-15, Gal 3:24) Born again is not achieved by our ability. It is purely the work of God through His word and His Spirit. When the clean water is sprinkled i.e. when the word of God is heard, the word will make the person clean and Christ is born in him. 1 Peter 1: 23 for you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. And the one who has received the word will refrain and repent from all his sinful deeds. Then the Lord will give him a new heart. He will remove the heart of stone (Heart of disobedience, sin, worldly etc) and will give a heart of flesh (obedience, sensitive to sin, repentant). After this, the Lord will put His Spirit in him…and then only, he can follow his decrees and be careful to keep His laws. So we conclude here that a natural man cannot follow the decrees and keep the law of God. But a person who is born of Spirit and word will follow the decrees and keep the word in him, because the Spirit of God works in him. Amen!

To understand what ‘Born Again’ is, we must know what is ‘not born again.’

Born Again is not Baptism: 1 Corinthian 1:14

If born again was baptism, then apostle Paul would have taken more time to baptize than preaching Gospel. It’s not through baptism, that Christ is born in one’s heart. It is the Gospel of God together with the work of Holy Spirit that brings one into salvation. It is purely from above. Baptism is not the act of getting salvation. Baptism is not born again but the one who is born again is given baptism. No one is buried to die, but the dead one is buried. Christian life does not start by taking baptism, but starts when Christ is born in us.

Born Again is not doing good works: Acts 10
Cornelius had various good qualities, but he was not born again. So the Lord sent Peter to his house to share the Gospel, so that Cornelius and his household would turn towards God. No matter how good you are, if you want to enter the kingdom of God, you must be born again. All the good works of man are like filthy rags before our holy God. Born again is not being born gradually. It is neither an imagination nor hypocrisy. It’s not the action of spirituality, but the one who is born from above is called born again (John 1:12-13)

A fish can only live in water. It will die when brought out of water. Likewise, we cannot survive in water because we are born on ground. With flesh, you can live in this world. But to live in the kingdom of God, we need to be born again. To live a Christian life, we need to be born again. First birth was because of will of man. But second birth is because of will of God. Through the first birth, we become sons of men, but through the second birth, we become sons of God. By first birth, we enter men’s family but by second birth, we enter God’s family. By first birth, we came into this world, but by second birth, we are getting ready to go out of this world to heavenly place. So we conclude here that the spirit which is in us came from above and will go above only…There are only two places, where the eternal spirit of a man can go i.e. eternal Heaven or eternal Hell!! There is no third place….Let us strive to live according to the word of God. Unless we are born again, we cannot see the kingdom of God …can anyone deny this word of God?

God Bless you!

If death to sin is not certain, Christian life is uncertain

Romans 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me

A true Christian is the one who allow Christ to live in him. A life with Christ begins when the old nature is dead to sin, flesh and the world, and a new life is resurrected to righteousness through the power of Holy Spirit. We may have Christian names or traditions, but all this boasting is not valid in the sight of God unless and until we are dead to sin and born again in the spirit. Christian life starts with death- Yes! Dead to sin. People of the world are living to die, but a child of God is dying to live. Let us go more deep into the subject and examine ourselves to see whether we are dead to sin. If not, know the truth and believe and accept Lord Jesus in your life today.

Mathew, Mark. Luke and John present Christ events in historical way but Paul represents Christ and Gospel in the book of Romans in a theological way. The book of Romans teaches us about redemption, reconciliation propitiation, justification. It is the real intention of Gospel. From Chapter 1 to 7, he writes the Gospel. He closes this portion in the 8th chapter, which begins as, ‘Therefore there is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ who walk according to the Spirit and not according to flesh. ‘Amen!

For since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—has been clearly seen and understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. But although they knew God, some did not glorify Him as God. They made the image of immortal God into mortal creature or bird and animals and were slave to sin, while some (Jews) who received the oracles of God was also under the bondage of sin. So Paul concludes in Romans 3:22 & 23, that ‘there is no difference – whether a Jew or a gentile-‘all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God’. So Chapter 3 concludes with ‘all men are sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God’. After this, Paul directly connects to the grace of God, and says in v. 24 that ‘all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.’

So a believing sinner is justified through the blood of Jesus, because God has laid all our sins on Jesus, and by doing so, he demonstrated his righteous justice. He established this because He is a just God and justifies all who believe in the Son of God. There is condemnation for sin, and we cannot justify our sins to God through any of our own works. But the one who believes in the Son is freely justified. Now I urge you beloved, if you have not received Christ Jesus as your personal savior, accept that you are a sinner, confess your sins, believe Him and accept Him now .You will be saved from the condemnation. He is just to blot out all transgression and justify you freely by His grace, through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ.

Now those who believe the Son, has got access by faith, into the grace in which we stand, and hope for the glory of God, from which was previously fallen short of. So now since we are justified through faith, and have made peace with God through Christ Jesus, we must reckon ourselves to be dead to sin and we should no longer live in it. We now live a new life with Him, who redeemed us… Now by no means, we shall go on sinning. We cannot live in it, since we have died to it. We are buried with Christ into death, and just like Christ was resurrected from death, we too have resurrected from our old man into the newness of life. Now the old self is crucified with Him, that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin, but has been set free from sin by His grace. So it is no more the old man who lives in us, but we are new creation and Christ lives in us, because only He can live a true Christian life. This is a faithful saying, ‘since Christ resurrected from death, death has no dominion over Him.’ So we, who have crucified our old self with Him, will be also raised into new self through the power of Holy Spirit.’

Christian life begins from death. 2 Timothy 2:11-13, ‘It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. ‘This verse proves that we shall live with him only if we are dead to sin with Christ. If death to sin is not certain, Christian life is uncertain No one can live a Christian life if he is not dead to sin. If one fails to die to sin with Christ, then he has failed completely. Christ can only live in us when we are dead to sin. Christian life is the freedom of sinless life …So anyone who has died to sin has been set free from sin. If we are not dead, we are still slaves to sin and the sin give death as wages to its slaves. Now we are no more slaves to sin that lead to death, but we are slaves to obedience that leads to righteousness. We have been set free from sin and have become slaves of righteousness. Since we are slaves to righteousness, we must practice it because righteousness of God leads to holiness which in turn leads to eternal life.

How can we can reckon ourselves dead to sin?

Let me share the basic principle of New Covenant here.
2 Corinthian 5:14, ‘For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.’ Christ loved us while we were still sinners. It is nothing else but the love of Christ that compels us. When this everlasting love is sowed in one’s heart, he will surrender and repent from all his sinful ways. He then will be convinced that it is no longer he who lives, but it is Christ who is lives in him.

John 1: 12 and 13, ‘But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those believe in His name; who were born, not of blood ,nor of the will of the flesh, not of the will of man, but of God. ‘Here two things are clear. 1st- Those who believe and receive Christ Jesus into their hearts have received the privilege to be His Child. 2ndly – He who got the privilege is born of God. How can we be born of God? John 3:5, ‘unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.’ Here, water signifies the word of God (Ezekiel 36:25-27). ‘Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. ‘That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. When the word of God is sprinkled into our stony hearts, and when the Spirit of God overshadows us, then there is a transformation inside us that leads to born again experience and Christ is born in us.So we conclude here that whoever is born of God overcomes the world (1 John 5:4) and whoever is born of God is dead to sin (1 John 3:9) because he is a new creation (2 Cori 5:17-21).

Now whoever believes this truth is given water baptism. This has to be taken with understanding of the real message about dying to sin and being born of God. Just taking a dip in water will not take you to heaven.

The changes in a person who is dead to sin

Philippians 3:7-8, ‘but what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ.’

1) Change in Perception: Paul wrote that the things which were gain to him were now loss for Christ. His perception had changed, just like a child’s perception changes when he is born from his mother’s womb into this world. A person who is dead to sin and born in spirit gets a new vision about everything.

2) Change in choice: A person who is dead to sin will not choose anything that will go against the will of God. Choosing of friends, relationships, books, Internet sites etc will be done according to God’s will. He will keep away the friends of his old sinful life. When the bible says that a person who is in Christ is a new creation, it means to say there will be not a single old thing in his new life. It is like throwing away all the old things when you move into a new house. He will not present himself as an instrument of unrighteousness. Since sin has no dominion over him, he presents his members as righteousness to God.

Things to which we should die!

We know that we are dead to sin but let’s go deeper into this subject.

Galatians 2:20, ‘I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.’

1) Flesh: We must crucify our flesh: (Galatians 5:24) There is nothing good in the flesh that can please God (Read Romans 7:17 and Romans 8:8). Carnal mind is enmity with God and those who do not crucify their flesh set their mind on flesh. No one can present himself as pleasing and living sacrifice to God, unless and until he crucifies his flesh, because a true worshipper will worship the Lord in spirit and in truth, and not in flesh.

2) World: We must be crucified to the World: Galatians 6:14, ‘But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.’ Now I used to think that world is something related to house or car or anything of that kind. But God changed my foolish thoughts through a man of God. World is a not a car or a house. It is the system ruled by Satan, and this system has denied our Lord…So world is defined as the system that denies Lord Jesus and His children. This world has a ruler and he is Satan, (John 14:30) and the ruler of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

Even though Satan and his minions are not working in the frontline, it is the money that dominates this Satan’s system. That’s why Jesus said that no one can serve two masters….No one can serve both mammon and God. In other words. No one can serve God and Satan. Money is a good servant but a terrible master. Jesus told us to use money, but not to serve money. Every Child of God must crucify himself to this system (World) who denies our Lord.

Let us examine ourselves, if we claim that we are born again. Are we dead to sin? Is our flesh crucified? Does the world hate us? If not, start from beginning ….repent and confess your sins so that our Lord will pour his mercy and grace and will restore you. He will strengthen you to stand firm in his grace till the end. Amen

God bless you
