RESTORATION (Part I)

THE LORD HAS HELPED US THUS FAR

1 Samuel 7:13-14 So the Philistines were subdued and did not invade Israelite territory again. Throughout Samuel’s lifetime, the hand of the LORD was against the Philistines. The towns from Ekron to Gath that the Philistines had captured from Israel were restored to her, and Israel delivered the neighboring territory from the power of the Philistines. And there was peace between Israel and the Amorites.

Greetings to all readers in the most precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

On 21 July 2010, I was praying and suddenly I was led by the Holy Spirit to this particular text where not only the previously captured towns, but even the neighboring territories from the hand of their enemies were restored to Israelites. Let this message bring you peace and strength in the Lord.

‘Restoration’ means ‘giving back something which was lost.’ Now you may ask, ‘have we lost anything to restore? ‘God said to Adam in Genesis 2:17, “for when you eat of it, you will surely die.” The disobedience to the Word of God caused sin and when sin was conceived fully, it gave birth to death. Devil deceived Eve by saying that God had kept the good thing in secret and that he had not yet revealed it to them.… Devil was in fact jealous when he saw God blessing man and giving him power. So to get that power and authority, the devil deceived the woman saying that God had kept back something more great…He lured the woman to the place where God had forbidden to eat. Devil will lure your mind to the worldly desires and his only aim is to take what God has bestowed inside you. He doesn’t want your car, job or anything that belongs to you. He wants you. He is jealous of you. But God has given us the power to restore what we have lost….I am sad to see and hear about some christians. Even though they are redeemed from the bondage of sin and death, they are still under the umbrella of fear, confusion, doubting etc. Dear child of God … Is it the peace that you have lost?? Is it the future of your child??? Is it your blessings?? Let me encourage you today. Devil, while tempting Jesus in the wilderness, said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. So if you worship me, it will all be yours.” But I read in John 19:30 Jesus saying “It is finished”. God, by sending his Son Christ Jesus, has restored what the Serpent had taken from the mankind…God has finished the work on the cross of Romans. For that, he did not even spare his only Son. Let me tell you, if God has restored us from the hand of Devil, do you think that devil can hold your blessings?? Do you think that he can hold your future?? The devil is a liar! Open your eyes, for today is the day of restoration for you and your family. Receive the word!

Even though the Israelites were redeemed from the Egyptian bondage, they were again pursed and subdued by Philistines, Amorites and many more cities. Why did that happen? God sent his servant Moses and broke the yoke of 430 years of bondage, but again the children of Israel were in the hands of their enemies, like Philistines and Amorites. This implies to us that even though we are redeemed from the bondage of sin and death, we are still in the state of uncertainty…We cannot blame God because God has finished his work by sending his Son Christ Jesus….so then where is the Problem???
Let us see what happened to Old Testament Israel. Then it will be easy for us to understand as to who are in the New Testament Israel. God sent 10 plagues to the land of Egypt, but those plagues did not redeem the children of God out the bondage.
We read in Exodus 12:3 -11 that when the Lamb was killed and the Israelites celebrated the Passover, they were out of their 430 years of bondage. So the relation with the Lamb will break the Yoke of bondage. This is very powerful. You must fix this in your heart. It is not the miracles that will break the yoke, but it is the relation with the Lamb that breaks the Yoke of Satan. Jesus said in Gospel of Mathew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” God wants us to learn from him and take his yoke upon us. The man who does these things will find rest in the soul.

Our God not only does miracles but he is also a Rabbi. He wants us to learn from him. He wants us to have relation with him. The Israelites were redeemed when they had relation with the Lamb. But when they forgot God and his ways, their enemies subdued them….This is so clear in our life. If we have a relation with God, if we abide under the shadow of the Almighty and if we dwell in the secret place of the Most High, then God will be our refuge, he will be our fortress; he will deliver us from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. A thousand may fall at our side, and ten thousand at our right hand but it
hall not come near us, No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near our dwelling…in the verses 14 of 91 psalms its says “ Because he has set his love upon Me, Therefore I will deliver him. I will set him on high, because he has known my name”. I want to ask myself, “Where I have set my love?” Is it on God or is it on the world?
When the Israelites set their love upon the Lamb, God delivered them. Let us not waver here and there, but let us set our love upon God…Devil wants to play with your mind. So set your mind in that High Place where he cannot reach it. Set your love upon God!!

Let us see where the Israelites had set their heart and why their enemies could overcome them. I would like to draw some points about how the Israelites restored their blessing for that I would suggest the reader to take the Bible and read these verses that is from 1 Samuel
7:3-11 .This is a very important topic. Many of us including me think that when we fast for 3 days and pray and cry before the Lord, then God will restore what we have lost…YES!! God will reply us when we fast and pray but before doing that, we must do certain things which will lead us to victory over the devil.

1 Samuel 7:3, ‘ And Samuel said to the whole house of Israel, “If you are returning to the LORD with all your heart, then rid yourselves of the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths and commit yourselves to the LORD and serve him only, and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.” So the Israelites put away their Baals and Ashtoreths, and
served the LORD only. Then Samuel said, “Assemble all Israel at Mizpah and I will intercede with the LORD for you.” When they had assembled at Mizpah, they drew water and poured it out before the LORD. On that day they fasted and there they confessed ,”We have sinned against the LORD.” And Samuel was leader of Israel at Mizpah. When
the Philistines heard that Israel had assembled at Mizpah, the rulers of the Philistines came up to attack them. And when the Israelites heard of it, they were afraid because of the Philistines. They said to Samuel, “Do not stop crying out to the LORD our God for us, that he may rescue us from the hand of the Philistines.” Then Samuel took a suckling lamb and offered it up as a whole burnt offering to the LORD. He cried out to the LORD on Israel’s behalf, and the LORD answered him. While Samuel was sacrificing the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to engage Israel in battle. But that day the LORD
thundered with loud thunder against the Philistines and threw them into such a panic that they were routed before the Israelites. 11 The men of Israel rushed out of Mizpah and pursued the Philistines, slaughtering them along the way to a point below Beth Car.

I would like to draw some truths here from the above verses. Verse 3 is very important to understand.

1) Returning to the Lord with whole heart: You must have a repentant heart like the prodigal son, who realized about his Father’s house. Besides a repentant heart, you must have a will to return to the Father’s house. The prodigal Son got a new
life,….Peter once left all and went for fishing but he returned to the master,…David committed two big sins but he had a repentant heart and a will to return to the Lord for mercy,…the thief who was hanged on the cross with Jesus had a heart to return and he confessed his sin there on the cross…He was bearing the pain but he had a heart of
repentance…Is your pain more than that of the thief? When all these characters returned to Lord with their whole heart, God blessed them and used them mightily. I believe that had Judas Iscariot returned to Christ Jesus, he would also have received the Salvation. But instead of returning to Jesus, he went to the chief priest and elders. (Matt
27:3) He felt like returning but he did not return to the right place. No matter what you been through past months and years, if you choose to return to the Lord, he will forgive your sins Psalms 103:12, ‘as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.’ “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven. And whose sins are covered; blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin”. So if God wants to restorewhat you have lost, you must return to the Lord, not with an incomplete heart but with
a whole heart and complete dedication.

2) Rid yourself from the evil: This is the second step which leads to restoration.Once you return to the Lord with you whole heart, then it is easy for you to be rid of the evil one and his thoughts. This is simple but many of us do not do this way. God does
not want to hear as to how and where you are messed up. Instead, he says, “come to me”… John 7: 37-39,’ On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” 39By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified. God wants a personal relationship with us. So he is calling us unto him and when we do that, the
streams of living water will flow from us. Many think that getting rid of the worldly and evil thoughts is very difficult. So they put their own efforts to get rid of their evil ways, but remember, before trying to get rid of them, you must return to the Lord. James 4:7 says, ‘Submit yourself, then, to God. Resist the Devil and he will flee from you.’ Here,
the Israelites returned to the Lord and that enabled them to put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreth’s. Now do you know why the Devil has put his hands on your blessings and on your families? Because you haven’t put away the evil things from you. This is very important for restoration. Why did Laban pursue Jacob and his family? Because Rachel, the wife of Jacob had stolen the images that were with her father (Laban). Genesis 31:34 Now Rachel had taken the images and put them in the camel’s furniture and sat upon them. And Laban searched all the tent, but found them not. If you are sitting on any belonging of the evil like Rachel, God is telling you to get rid of that
and if you fail to do that, then the spirit of Laban will not stop pursuing you. Now when Jacob left Laban, God blessed him. This is the reason why (Devil) is pursing the children of God, even though they are redeemed from the bondage. We must say Good Bye to
Laban, Good Bye Pharaoh. No child of God must keep anything of the devil’s belongings because if you do that, he will stay there demanding your blessings. An idle talk, an evil eye, evil thoughts, evil ways etc are all the works of flesh. Unless and until we do not get rid all these things from our life…no matter how many days you fast, how many years you pray, you will not restore what the devil has taken away from you.

3) Commit yourself to the Lord: This means to consecrate your life to the Lord.A person who has returned to the Lord and who has put away the evil from him must consecrate or commit himself to the Lord. God has never forsaken anyone who has
committed their life to him. The problem with this generation is that we have lot of commitments and so we run frantically to accomplish those commitments, and at the end we gained nothing. God wants us to commit ourselves fully unto him…I Samuel 3:1 And the child Samuel ministered unto the Lord before Eli.Even though Samuel was sitting before the priest Eli, his commitment was towards Godhe
ministered unto the Lord. If you give tithes, you are giving to God, not the church or pastors. Your commitment must not be towards Pastors or Elders, Yea! Even though we sit before them, our ministry is to please God, not men. Again in Mark 8:34-35 “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it.” Now you may think Oh! This is very hard. How can I deny myself and my parents, brothers and sisters? No No!! God does not want you to deny everyone and live a life of sanyasi in the caves and mountains. He wants you to love him more than you love your father and mother, brothers and sisters even yourself…If you Love God, you will Love everyone. This is basics, but powerful. When you commit to God and love him more than anyone, you are not actually denying your loved ones. At the same time, you love your loved ones with the love of God. God wants full commitment. A husband and a wife are committed to each other. The husband thinks that his wife should love him only and vice versa…If we are so concerned about this worldly love, then how much more committed we should be to the love of God which is everlasting.

4) Serve the Lord only: Without commitment, you cannot serve the Lord. Many of us want to serve the Lord, but before doing that you must commit yourself to the Lord. These 4 points are so interlinked that if you miss one you have missed everything. Matt 7:22-23, ‘Many will say to Me in that day, “Lord, Lord, have we
not prophesied in Your Name and done many wonders in your Name”? And then I will declare to then “I never knew you, depart from me, you who practice lawlessness”. These people have done great things. They prophesied and they have done many wonders but why God did not know them? In fact, they served the Lord but practiced lawlessness. They served the Lord but they were committed to the world. What did Jesus say to Martha? Martha was serving the Lord, but was committed to the kitchen…This is a sad part. Most of us are serving the
Lord but our commitments are towards the World. Matt 6:24 says “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. You cannot serve God and Money; you cannot serve God and the World….the Fourth reason why we are not able to restore our blessings is because we serve two masters. Serve the Lord only.

Did the Israelites do these four things??? Yes!! 1 Samuel 7:4, ‘so the children of Israel put away the Baals and the Ashtoreths, and served the Lord only. When they gathered in Mizpah and drew water and poured it before the Lord…this shows that they cried unto the lord and fasted that day saying “we have sinned against the Lord”’. Who must fast? The one who has returned to the Lord, the one who has got rid of the evil ways and committed his life to serve the Lord only must fast….. Many keep the fasting without doing these 4 things in their life…Do not think that when you starve for some days, God will restore your blessings. You must be aware that you have to do certain things which are very important for the restoration….And after doing these things, v.9 says, ‘ And Samuel took a suckling lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord.’ They offered sacrifice to the Lord. Romans 12: 1 ‘ I Beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God which is your reasonable service’. When the Israelites were offering to the Lord, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel, but the Lord thundered with a loud thunder upon the Philistines that day. So they were confused and were overcome before Israel. Devil with his army will draw near you when he sees that you are worshiping the Lord, but do not worry stay calm because the battle is for the Lord. And the Lord helped the Israelites to restore what they had lost and the Philistines were subdued. They did not come anymore into the territory of Israel. Israel restored all the cities which their enemies had taken away from them. Not only the old cities, but they got some new territories also ….God is not only going to restore what you have lost, but he will also add something new into your life …. Remember! We are serving a LIVING GOD. Receive the Word in the name of Jesus Christ.

God Bless you
